July 17, 2003 This whole thing has about finished me. For the first time in my life, I've given passing thought to simply leaving and getting the hell out of the country....permanently. What in the name of all that's unholy is going on in the United States? The leftists in the courts are passing legislation while the leftists in the Senate are stalling nominations of judges that would stop legislating from the bench. The idiots in the Florida State Supreme Court, behaving more like a drunken Diana Ross and the Supremes, have ruled that a parent needn't even be TOLD if their 13-year-old daughter wants and HAS an abortion (but schools STILL have to get parental permission to give her an aspirin!) The 9th Circuit Court has unaccountably ruled that the phrase "under God" in the pledge of allegiance is "unconstitutional" because it violates an invisible principle of "separation of church and State" which is NOWHERE mentioned IN the Constitution. The courts in Hawaii, Vermont and Massachusetts have ruled (or are on the verge of ruling) that same-sex marriage is OK. Even the U.S. Supreme Court, reviled by the left as being "conservative," has held that I can be discriminated against by Universities (and, presumably, by businesses and the government itself) if I happen to be white--legally--in direct contravention of the "Equal Protection" clause of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution--which the highest court in the land simply IGNORED! We've got a new company being promoted everywhere that desensitizes men to the concept of hunting down and shooting women. In some quarters, this concept is being hailed as "brilliant." NOW and other feminist organizations remain mute and seem to be only interested in whatever will get Democrats elected...period. We have fat, middle-aged men abducting and raping 11-year-old girls in broad daylight INSIDE busy department stores, the abductions taking place within mere feet of the girls' mothers! We've got murderers on death row having access to computers and carrying on correspondence by e- mail with the sickos who're attracted to such vile creatures. Minority out of wedlock pregnancies are up, minority drug use is up, minority crime is up and the NAACP doesn't care about anything except--you guessed it--getting more Democrats elected. The public schools are failing to teach our kids and demanding more and more money for NOT teaching 'em. The National "Education" Association--really, a radical, leftist, teacher's union--fights tooth and nail against any measure that would either IMPROVE public school performance or hold bad teachers accountable for their failure to teach. Right here, we have at least two Jr. High or High School kids spouting off on this site with stupidity that sounds like it was plagiarized straight from the DemocratUnderground website, and these kids claim to carry "A" averages in school! The news media treats every utterance from the left as though it's straight from Matthew, Mark, Luke or John and castigates an honorable President because he said 16-WORDS in his State of the Union address last year that he has since had to retract after finding out some of the evidence was forged, calling him a liar (or worse) and even hinting at impeachment! Democrats, self-promoted as the "party of the people," get the vast majority of their funding from millionaires while the GOP, supposedly the "party of the rich," gets the vast majority of ITS funding from tens of thousands of donations under $400 each, and almost NO mention of this contradiction is made in the press. Universities, which SHOULD be repositories of public debate and reasoned, rational discourse, have instead made every effort to stifle any opinion that conflicts with liberal orthodoxy-- even resorting to blackballing any potential instructor if he/she shows the slightest sign of being a conservative or worse, a {shudder} Republican! Our President has abandoned conservative principles and embraced every cock-a-mamie, leftist idea that comes down the pike--even promoting, and CELEBRATING that death-blow to the 1st Amendment known as "Campaign Finance Reform." It doesn't MATTER that he may only be trying to rob the Democrats of campaign issues. What matters is that, this man of "principle" has apparently abandoned HIS and is leading us closer and closer to a nation subserviant to the Federal bureaucracy. I'm getting fed up...BIG time. Instead of a government that serves the interests of the country as "one nation, under God," we're experiencing a government that serves the interests of whoever cries the loudest. The issue of "slave reparations" is, amazingly, being given SERIOUS consideration, even though NO ONE living in this country today has ever BEEN a slave or OWNED one. We laud "heroes" in sport, entertainment and public life that we would NEVER trust alone with our kids for a second! We give totally undue credence to the blatherings of people like George Clooney, Sean Penn, Barbara Striesand, Ed Asner, Martin Sheen, Michael Moore or Susan Saranden, all of whom barely graduated from high school, as though what they have to say about our world actually MEANS anything of consequence, or has any more validity than what our hairdresser or bartender says. We ignore the rank hypocrisy in Hollywood and much of the "environmental" elites. These people who live in 10,000-square-foot, energy inefficient homes, drive 8 mpg gas-guzzlers, fly virtually alone in private jets and helicopters, demand special treatment wherever they travel (and they all travel extensively) then have the unmitigated gall to tell the rest of us that we should "conserve" fuel and other consumeables by giving up our SUV's, riding the bus or a bicycle, be content with inefficient air conditioning for our tiny hovels and eat soya-based foods every meal, while THEY dine on beluga caviar and Chateaubriand and Dom Perignon '85, all the while reviling this country and what it has achieved in just 230 years! I'm fed up to the GILLS, people.
