We Often Make Enemies For Speaking The Truth
Aug 11, 2003

Someone here is griping about President Bushs ability to make enemies. I don't see it that way. I think he told the truth. Just because Saudi Arabia cooperates with us when they feel like it doesn't mean they aren't an evil kingdom of religious fanatics.

How dare President Bush insult Syria, that bastion of freedom and democracy. They were helping Iraq during the war. So Bush made another enemy but answer me this when was Syria ever a friend?

And then our horrible monster of a President insulted the entire continent of Africa. Not the way I see it. He mentioned Niger. British intelligence stands by their africa information by the way, even if the cia does not. I don't know who you trust more but the British seem to be more skilled at intelligence gathering. We use old maps and end up hitting chinese embassies. I mean in Africa, in Liberia and in the Ivory Coast we had people outside American embassies demanding President Bush intervene on their behalf.Yeah he made a lot of enemies, those Africans really hate Bush.

When has Preident Bush said that we don't need other nations? I ask only because I can't recall him every saying anything like that. I mean we got other nations involved in both Afghanistan, and in Iraq. Yes, he made an enemy out of France and Germany or more accurately they made enemies out of us. I haven't heard anyone on the left criticize Gerhard Schroeder for taking ties with the U.S. to the breaking point, somehow it is all President Bushs fault.

So what about President Bushs ability to make friends. He maintained close ties with Tony Blair, who is Bushs ideoloigcal opposite. After the September 11th attacks President Bush created close ties with President Musharaf a nation that is almost entirely muslim and a nation that had had close ties with the Taliban militia. He made ties with Russia closer than they had been, minus a disagreement over Iraq, Russian American relations have not really suffered. He negotiated an arms reduction with the country. This could not have been done had he made enemies with everyone he came across.

Men who speak their minds and tell the truth often make enemies. Everyone was wringing theri hands about President Reagans ability to make enemies with the Soviets. Yet he was right to do so. Those who get angry at what President Bushs mesage were never really our friends to begin with and not worth having as friends at all.

Now, no one can make a friend out of North Korea. Not possible to befriend a nation that dreams of destroying you, and would we really want Kim Jong Il as a friend anyway. That would have been like FDRT befriending Adolf Hitler. Evil is Evil, and should be confronted not coddled. It is better to have such men as enemies than as friends. If North Korea were a friend what would that say about us?

Now back to Blair. Bush didn't make him do anything. Blair went along because he believes that Hussein had to be removed. I don't recall the British Parliment screaming when Blair and Clinton bombed Iraq in 1998. The way I see it Bush doesn't make enemies, he just exposes them for what they really are and isn't afraid to say so. Its a shame that some can't see that.
