Mar 8, 2004 Yesterday I was watching C-span2. Now this is not what I usually do on Sunday but a favorite author of mine was on the air. Victor Davis Hanson, classicist, military historian, and contribute to many publications. To get to the point they allowed people to call in to the show to ask Mr. Hanson questions. Now a great many of the people who called in were liberals, and Mr. Hanson handed their questions deftly. Answering their questions and obliterating their arguments. But there were a couple that made me just stop in my tracks. One caller didn't ask a question. He just went on an anti-semitic rant accusing those dreaded neo cons of being a front for the jewish conspiracy to take over the world. The other was a pacifist who ranted that the U.S. military had committed naziesque war crimes in the Iraq war. Now I thought bigotry was supposed to be the property of us heartless conservatives, looks like they have a change of address. I mean these weren't neo nazis, but people who probably think marxism was a good thing, just misunderstood. And that America would be better off under the leadership of Dennis Kucinich. But back to the first guy. The one who probably keeps a shotgun under his bed in case a neo con (that is,in his mind, a jew) happens to move into the neighborhood. Now I don't buy the whole neo con= jew argument. It's very weak and usually supported by men and women who have lost all contact with reality. Many neo cons are not jews, in fact most aren't and to say with a straight face that it is a front for jews trying to run the world should be automatic addmitance into a mental isntitution. What is the dreaded neo con anyway? Ooooh, the scary neo cons. Here it is: a neo con is nothing but a person who is often(not always) socially liberal but a conservative when it comes to foreign policy. That's it. Some conspiracy huh? Now to the other braying jacksass. This one declared that as a christian all war was wrong. Now I don't know what kind of a Christian this caller was, or if he was a serious christian. But I do know he must not know too much about history. Christians have had a just war teaching since the days of the emporer Constantine. But my main point about people like these is that 1) there is no pleasing them and 2) they have no proof for what they rant about. As to point one: No matter what the U.S. does is wrong. If we had not invaded Iraq we would be accussed of supporting a homicidal dictator and ignoring the plight of millions of people. When we do act we are accused of being imperialistic and committing war crimes. Such as using depleted uranium. Where's the proof? Where are the millions of civilian victims from our war in Iraq. How can a war of liberation be logically called a war of occupation. If this was an imperialistic land grab to seize oil fields, then why are we turning power over to the Iraqis in June and why do we have an exit strategy? Folks, this is the left. And their standard bearer wants to live in the white house. Scared yet? ------------ Email Craig Chamberlain: craig_chamberlain@hotmail.com Tell a friend about this site! ------------ |
