Dec 8, 2003 I am not a statesman, a politician, diplomat or a constitutional scholar. I am just a proud patriot of this nation. I feel the need to speak about the nations problems. Disrespect for our constitution has led to a great many problems in out society. Ever since 1787, when men gathered in Philadelphia to write a constitution, there has been debate over its power and scope. Sadly, there have always been men, and women, who have interpreted and put things into the constitution that were never there. During the first years of the republic it was the federalists who put implied powers into the constitution, after the end of federalist party, the National Republicans(later the Whig party) began to be the party of the implied powers and loose interpratation. Then the Democrats with their new socialist philosophy began to see the highest law of the land as a living document. It is the assasult on our constitutional freedoms that has led to the erosion of our freedoms and has caused so many problems in our society. Systematically we are told that the constitution does not mean what it says it means, bad legal decisions that erode liberty are always the result. All laws must be compliant with the U.S. constitution, if they are not they are unconstitutional, and thus invalid. This has been the ruling of the high court since John Marshall was chief justice. As we lose more and more of our constitutional freedoms we find ourselves more and more in a state of servitude to the government, no longer citizens, but subjects. Now, it has been primarily the left that has led the attack on the constitution, and we usually do nothing about it. 1) The assault on our freedom of religion: "congress shall make no lawrespecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free excercise thereof" I don't believe freedom of religion is listed first by accident. Yet our freedom of religion is under attack, make no mistake about it. The words seperation of church and state do not appear in the constitution. Yet so fully has this been pounded into our heads we accept it as the law of the land. Yet nowhere does the first amendment say that public displays of religion or mentioning God in public are unconstitutional. Prayers before a football game or diplaying a manger scene at Christmas time, or displaying the the ten commandments not one of these things establishes, that is makes an official religion. Believe me, no one feels more strongly than I do that there should not be an official religion yet the government is now prohibiting the free exercise of religion. A judge in Colorado has ruled that a woman may not teach her daughter Christianity. The woman had been in a lesbian relationship, she then converted to christianity and in accordance with her new faith ended her relationship and was going to teach her daughter that homosexuality was a sin. Enter our saviors, the black robed oligarchs who from on high decree what the constitution is what's best for us, and how we will live our lives. Not only was the woman forbidden to raise her daughter in her faith but the judge ordered her lover be given vistitation rights to the girl. Very odd considering that since she is not a relative there is no legal right for it. Another case is that of General Boykin. A highly decorated army officer who has, for all intents and purposes, been lynched for suposedly making anti muslim remarks. Where did he make these "vile" statements? A) was it at a press conference? B)An interview? or C)Or at church? If you answered C give yourself a pat on the back.If you can't make religious statements in church then not only is free exercise of religion under attack but freedom of speech as well. "A well regulated militia, being necesary for the security of a free state THE RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" It doesn't say state, or government it says PEOPLE! As in you and me, as in an individual right to keep an bear arms.Yet legal scholars arrogantly declare that the second amendment is a collective right. We have passed thousands of gun control laws with the aim of stopping crime, yet the oppisite has been the result.Guns are taken away from law abiding citizens leaving them in the hands of criminals and a too small police force. Judges have read things into the constitution that simply are not there. A fictitous right to privacy is used to justify a holocaust of the unborn. Now the court even cites international law in their decision and tries to enforce EU laws in the U.S. Our constitutional rights and with it our rights, are under assault.
