Sept 16, 2003 Israel says it is going to expel Yasser Arafat. My only question is : what took them so long to reach that decision? Last time I looked Israel was a soverign nation, true it needs to keep its allies happy as with any nation, but there comes a time when you must do what you must do. Arafat renounced terrorism in 1988. Has the terrorism stopped. Now the palestinian bootlickers will say that Arafat has little control over such things, that it is groups like Hamas or Hezboallah that commit the terrorist acts. Garbage. That's all that argument amounts to. The Palestinian territories are essentially there own nation. So if Arafat has no control over large terrorist groups working freely in his fiefdom, then should he be a leader? Secondly the apologists ignore the terrorist activiites committed by groups that take their orders from Arafat. Groups like the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade work with the explicit approval of Arafat and take orders from him. The other groups while not part of his Fatah movement have implicit approval to operate. The man is a terrorist. Plain and simple. He has lived his whole life with one explicit purpose. To destroy Jews. He fought to drive them out when the area was a British Mandate, he fought to slaughter them in the war of 1948, he has been fighting to do it ever since and has not stopped for a moment. If Bin Laden were known to be in the U.S. we wouldn't hesitate to kill him. Yet we try to restrain Israel from doing essentially the same thing. I want to know one thing. Why are the people who are so vociferious in their denounciations of Israel and so determined to help the Arabs destroy them look the other way. It is ludicroulsly claimed that the palestinian territories are the only occupied territories on Earth. Really? Maybe someone needs to look at a map. Turkey occupies a third of Cyprus, Morrocco occupies the Western Sahara, China occupies Tibet. So I gues that if a muslim nation or a communist nation places troops in an occupying role there is no problem. President Bushs roadmap is dead and good riddance. You want peace in the middle east? Expel arafat to Antarctica and lets not tie Israeli hands when fighting terrorism. ------------ Email Craig Chamberlain: craig_chamberlain@hotmail.com Comment on this column in the forum.
