Internet Advertising That Sucks

There is a trend in past years for advertising, especially that on the internet, to make an auspicious attempt to be "hip" and frankly, its making me sick. To make my case, I'd like to submit a couple of examples of the vertigo I experience when viewing web advertisments:

The oversized head look: What is up with this guy? Do the mavens of Madison Avenue really think that this guy with the big head and laptop is going to convince us to purchase...


...Credit monitoring services?

Personally, I think it'd make a grand advertisment to visit a shrink. But thats just me.

And it doesn't end there. It's everywhere. Big headed dogs, cats, people, the trend just doesnt stop.

This also begs the question...where do they find these people? What is the criteria? Or do you post your resume' and picture on a site like www.modelsthatlookgoodwithbigheads.com (Hey if that domain is available, someone could make a fortune). Maybe they pull from the same group of actors that appear in karoake videos.

Whatever the case, companies need to stop the insanity, and quit bombarding us with pictures and graphics that make the assumption that the user is going to be twice as likely to click on an ad with a picture like this in it:
