We Wanna Be Warmongers?
Mar 21, 2003

What is it about the US-led Operation Iraqi Freedom that has the rest of the world afraid?

Is it a misguided sense that America is in an empire-building phase?

Or, is it that dictators and despots around the world are getting a glimpse of what they can reap from the pain and suffering they sow?

I'm sure you've heard by now the paltry, pusillanimous pontifications from the likes of North Korea, Russia and Iran, condemning the military action in Iraq.

It seems as though they are imagining what would happen if the US placed their bullseye of justice on their stained head, isn't it?

The story of Damocles comes to mind...

An ancient king was tired of one member of his court whining about how good it must be to sit on the throne and order people around all day. So, the king, Damocles, allowed that member to sit on his throne for a day. At the end of the day, the member felt justified in his whining until Damocles pointed above the throne.

There, suspended by a single strand of human hair, was a sword with its blade pointing downward. The court member realized that had that hair snapped, he would have been dead...

We, the United States of America, have annointed ourselves to be that sword of Damocles.

For dictators and despots worldwide, your head should lie uneasy upon your throne. You should be all sound and no fury as you issue harsh statements against our President and our actions to punish one of your own. You should be looking over your shoulder, or seriously considering changing the way you run your fiefdom.

Saddam should have heeded the words from my favorite movie, Tombstone: "Run--run, you cur."

Now, God willing, he has several tons of rubble marking his grave.

God bless our soldiers, sailors, airmen, coasties and marines.

God Bless America.
