Blaming Bush For HAITI?
Mar 1, 2004

AAAAAAAUUUUGGGGHHHH!

Allow me to engage in a lil' rant-n-roll...

I've had it.

NOW my party is blaming Bush for HAITI!

How in the aich-eeee-double hockey sticks is it his fault?

Does anyone remember Operation Restore Democracy in 1994? I do! I was there, in uniform. If I remember correctly, our commander-in-chief at that time was one William Jefferson Clinton.

Alluded to in one of Bush's speeches, he is now, once again, cleaning up a mess left from a prior administration.

So, I'm vexed to the point of no end. How is it, again, Bush's fault?

How do our Presidential candidates stand in front of a camera and blast Bush's administration for "failing to take timely action" in Haiti?

Who are they pandering to? The estimated 385,000 Haitians in the US, according to the Census Bureau?

Yammering on like this is not likely to garner any votes. It just doesn't make sense, in my mind.

Senator John Kerry: "The United States should have been an honest broker for nonviolence. This is one more indication of how the administration comes late to an issue, very ideologically colored in their approach, and allows things to get out of control as they have elsewhere in the world."

What?

First, my eyes immediately jump to the word, "colored". It has been contended by my party that Bush will not intervene in any world event unless it contains a profit motive, i.e., Iraq. While I agree with that premise, my party takes it one step further by saying if it involves people of color, Bush don't care.

Wrong.

How many millions of dollars are in the FY2005 budget to combat AIDS in Africa? Who is the ranking intelligence officer in the administration? Who is the Secretary of State?

My goodness. My party has disappointed me by acting as if we need to castigate and demonize Republicans. I can't stand when our knee-jerk reaction to an action by a Republican is one of needing to oppose it, irregardless of how sensible and logical the action is.

But, remember when you were growing up, and you found out that there was no Santa Claus? You still looked forward to Christmas, didn't you? You didn't lose sight of the season when you found out your dad stayed up 'til 4 in the morning assembling that Radio Flyer, did you?

Well, with me, it's the same way. I'm disappointed that the liberal nature of my candidates is out in full drag. But I have hope that my party will come to its senses.

Soon, please...soon!
