Sept 30, 2003 Senator X Senate office Building Washington D.C. Dear Senator X I re-read my original E-Mail to you. As I suspected I never suggested you not run for re- election. I simply stated I was in favor of Term Limits for all Congressmen, a position I continue to maintain. Let me say I was impressed you would ansewer a letter from a constituent knowing what he had said. In the fifty years I have written to Congress I have had two that where on point. The rest where form letters thanking me for supporting some redicules position or asking for a donation or both. You Sir are My kind of Congressmen you didn't ask for a domation. You stated Term Limits would be unfair to your constituents, they deserve the best, etc. etc. I find that a bit arrogant and self-serving. I would suggest once you served your tweleve years there would be some other person well qualified willing and able to take up the mantel. The problem with longivity and seniority it tends to surpress the ideas and ideals of the newer less seasoned Congressman. As I read the Constitution, Congress was to be one man one vote. Each who represented his or her State would have equal oppertuinty to vote their constituents views. The Good-Old-Boy seniority system inhibits equality. The best examples for Term Limits are Senators Ted Kennedy and Robert Byrd. For these two to go to the floor and denagrade our President is in my opinion grounds for impeachment. To call The President of The United States a liar and a cheat in the Halls of Congress is deporable. I suggest we trun them out. I could give each a Cat as a parting gift. There is nothing like a Cat to teach a man how extraneous and unimposing he is. I have two suggestions, One: repeal all the laws governing campagin contrabutions. Re-write the law placing complaisnce on Congress. Two: Set term Limits Six two year terms for the House and two six year terms for the Senate. If I sound cynical I am not. I am a pragmatist who has seen the light but has not been blinded by it. Ken ------------ About the author: Ken is retired. He is a political activest operating from an easy chair and a computer.
