Sept 18, 2003 Dear Mr. Limbaugh, Conservatives only feign concern about things environmental, while the Liberals capitalize on the environmental passion of their Liberal flock to fabricate one red-herring crisis-obsession after another. They are confident that their self indulgent, pride-bloated, liberal media co-conspirators will flatter and spurn their utopian-protest stooges on thus legitimizing their crisis-mongering "concerns". The anti-war protesters and their media of choice ironically, media that they pride themselves as being above feed off of each other. Through their crisis creation and management (like gun-control) and thanks to a well primed, great unwashed tax base, the Democrats achieve their end of gaining more and more control over them, primarily in order to bilk everyone out of their dollars. Al Gore and the UNs Global Bunk Scam, facilitating the imposition of Eco Tax on all fuel (even the non-polluting!) is the prime case in point. But Rush, your making light of all things environmental is the fly in the conservative ointment, the weak link in the chain we depend on to keep people from getting sucked deeper into the Liberal quagmire. Meanwhile, there is a cutting edge where societal pollution is concerned wisdoms stitching on the Limbaugh fast ball and heres the pitch: The in-your-face and and in the skies (kerosene jet fuel) burning of diesel fuel oil in high output pumps (otherwise known as engines) renders all other environmental concerns including tobacco, next to inconsequential by comparison. Diesel is mankind's hands-down, front burner health and environmental problem. At this point in time you seem still only able to slight and skirt the truth about diesel, as you did with a diesel equals cancer implication one day, but in terms of its wide-spread, ever-growing magnitude, the burning (secondarily, the repeated spilling) of diesel fuel oil and motor oil and crude, is the worst thing man has ever done and is doing to himself. That good old boy E.I.B. caller who you praised for his Turbo Cumins Ram pickup is leaving a wicked river of heavier than air toxicity in his wake wherever he goes; he should try strolling down the road after his wife powers by she proudly drives it, the caller said. Heavy duty diesel pickups (or any diesel) usually running around empty and being used mostly for transportation, is the crime of the century! It would take a hundred of the biggest brand new, pollution-control-equipped, gasoline-powered S.U.V's to pollute as much as one stinking little diesel Rabbit especially an old beater. This is where your rightful defense of SUV's should be centered. Diesel SUV's are the problem. The California Air Resources Board (C.A.R.B.) in your beloved Sacramento, has the Diesel details and leads the world in exposing the truth. Ive been researching this for 10 years, and spoken before the Vancouver, British Columbia Regional District government. In my speech I told them that I knew diesel was pumping out aldehydes from when my father was an underground gold miner they had water-filled filters on the underground diesel compressors and machinery to trap the "hydrophylic" aldehydes. In the next 50-page report the Vancouver government sent me, they listed, Formaldehyde and Acetaldehyde and also added Butadeine (synthetic rubber-related) to my growing list. Is my being a formerly chronically asthmatic child, a 20 year engine rebuilder, studied in oil chemistry, a seller of Diester synthetic oil, and a present long distance, ocean-swimming, Christian Conservative, enough to exempt me from the unhealthy limitation relentlessly imposed on people by your conservationist wacko label? Is 600 cubic feet per minute being spewed from a running Cumins, consisting of Sulfur Trioxide, Formaldehyde (breast cancer), Acetaldehyde, Butadeine, Dioxin (breast cancer), Acroline, soot and thirty five other shop-level chemicals, not as worthy of your usually brilliant scrutiny as the litany of on-going lies that spew from the politically-driven Liberal ranks? Tobacco has got nothing on diesel! Every diesel is an in-your-face, industrial pollution factory on wheels! I live in a lush valley on a well traveled road and it would take two hundred cigar smokers exhaling wildly towards my building to affect me as much as one old diesel Jimmy pickup making a pass on a day with no wind. Diesel exhaust travels sideways or falls to any lower elevation. Get behind the reality of cubic inch displacement as relates to RPM and the mostly heavierthanair, litany of chemical in diesel exhaust Rush. Where enthusiasm has boiled over into passion, the fire of reason is extinguished. Without reason there is no wisdom in the more-than-worldly sense and without Wisdom, no Truth. . . Maha-Rushi. Your passionate, hence pride-tainted and devoid-of-reason pronouncements, range from, "Electric cars, who wants them anyway", to "Revelations shouldn't even be in the Bible" and such shortsightedness forfeits the game to the Liberals. To say, as you have more than once, "Electric cars; nobody wants them." is a clear-cut failing of our esteemed "Truth Detector" and you surely have been that for me, where liberalism and political understanding is concerned. But you are chipping away at our Republican credibility big-time with such untruths. Natural gas, alcohol, hydrogen, propane, biodiesel, electric, whatever. . . nobody I know would ever turn one of them down. Even though Liberal leaders don't really give a damn about pollution either (see Al Gore owning a million in Occidental Petroleum stock) their electorate thinks they do and that's all that matters vote-wise. We need the light of reason, unclouded by your passionate disdain for all conservationists and untainted by the pride that inspires you to venture where you are as yet still in the dark. Your meting out of scathing wacko condemnations because you seem as yet averse to studying the truth about burning fuel oil constitutes the forfeiting of a golden opportunity, another avenue whereby Republicans could really demonstrate Wisdom and blow the Liberals away. Conservatives could live up to their name as applies to nature and conservation, exposing the Liberals' feigned environmental-concern cons for the empty pretense and Kyoto, tax-grab-type schemes that they actually are. Crude oil, to be burned and spilled here on the surface, is not as you have repeated more than once, God's gift to man. On May 29, 2002, you said: Oil in the last 50 years has revolutionized the way we live; we keep finding more of it. I am in awe at the foresight of God that He made oil available to us and knew all the great things that we were going to do with it. You also said, 60% of the earths oil we cant get to. Well Rush, if oil was Gods gift to man why would 60% of it be inaccessible? On Aug. 15, 2003, you said: Oil continues to be the lifeblood of our technological advancement. In the ocean we can drill up to depths of 9.000 feet. All this talk about conservation is left-wing, cowardly, linguini-spined, B.S." Rush, when the earth asked, "Natural gas anyone?" we responded in worldly-wise stupidity with, "No thanks, we'll suck up the crude and burn it instead." As it stands you would think it unwise to suggest that the way to lessen dependency on foreign oil is to cultivate the marketing and use of tried-and-true synthetic oils for engine crankcases and yet all jet turbines use Phosphate Esters which blow petroleum away for cold flow, heat stability and film strength. You also imply that it is folly to move into any one of about seven to ten also proven, non-polluting fuels and so sadly, a percentage of that talent that you say is "on loan from God", is being poorly invested in encouraging the same shortsightedness in your trusting Republican listeners. You repeatedly talk about these non-polluting innovations as though they have yet to be proven viable! Rush, did you know that you can put one hundred and fifty thousand miles on a propane-powered, 350 Chevy engine and have no perceptible cylinder wall wear? The plugs also remain free of carbon and oil fouling and the crankcase oil stays cleaner longer, etc., etc.? The reason for the phenomenal lack of cylinder wall wear is because with dry, clean-burning propane or Natural Gas-type fuels. no longer is there wet fuel washing the crankcase oil off the upper cylinder walls the hardest part of the engine to optimally lubricate. The combustion contaminants of propane or natural gas are only carbon dioxide and water vapor. Unfortunately the real "wackos" have been conned into being phobic about carbon dioxide which plant life has to have. Incidentally, I have completely rebuilt twenty five engines in my day, by myself and without any failures. Now if that doesn't put a damper on the auto-tendency to lump me in with the wacko fringe, nothing will. Keep up the good work Rush, but dig a little deeper. Untie your right brain from behind your back. Your dependence to a fault on left brain analysis needs to be tempered with the "present and future", "big picture", "possibilities-oriented", of the right brain. Your right brain contributions seem to result in the water of enthusiasm, passionately boiling over to put out the fire of reason. The end result being those sweeping generalizations of uninspiring, quasi-creative, "environmentalwacko" pigeonholing. Having half your brain tied behind your back isn't fair to yourself let alone to fellow Conservatives. . . and besides why would you not be saying, "With half my brain tied behind my back to make it fair TO LIBERALS"? We'd even be satisfied with a quarter of each half in that case. Yours truly, Terry Graham, Citizen C.A.D.E. :) Founder of: Citizens Against Diesel Emissions ------------ About the author: Terry C.
