Oct 6, 2003 Im sure glad I dont live in California. If its a media foxhunt, imagine what its like in California? Here we are acting like large children, scrambling for treats of information about the most mundane events of the candidates lives? I have yet to see or read a serious discussion of the abilities or academic or mental capacity of the so-called running candidates? There was a television show on about the candidates last night and it was a GAME show! How childish is that? Oh, I cant wait for the general election. That will be fun. Never mind Celebrity Boxing, lets just have Presidential Boxing? What do you think it would get in the ratings? Remember Jack Nicholson in Mars Attacks? Remember he cried out, Why cant we all just get along? I think it would be nice if everyone DID get along. You know, be polite and civil. We could tone down our exuberance for the radical behavior and focus on the sensible, calm behavior of those running for office. I often wonder where these candidates mothers are? Why dont they pin a note to their shirt saying, Remember to say please and thank you. Or even an email saying, Do your best and take the moral high road. Do mothers do that anymore? They ought to. I feel like its all a collision speed. The candidate race here and talk there. The glittering smile is often only a toothpaste ad and not a genuine smile. When a person smiles, the smile reaches their eyes if they mean it. I get such fleeting glances at the faces of candidates that I never can tell if its a real smile or a crocodile smile. And the newscasters want to be my forever-best friend. Amazing times we live in, eh? I feel we ought to take a rest and watch The Waltons again for a week or two. You know, feel the family Americana dream of how it ought to be. ------------ Visit www.RDLarson.com or email RD Larson: RD Larson419@aol.com Comment on this column in the forum.
