Nov 20, 2003 Please tell me we have not decayed this far. It is already commonplace to hear this foul word in the adult arenas, the workplace, restaurants, and bars. Indeed it is common from men and women in normal conversation. Now we have a government agency saying it is ok for broadcast during live television even during prime time when our children are watching. We have already allowed this kind of low class display of lack of intelligence and courtesy for others to creep into the music that is sold to our youth. We have created a full market of gansta whatever to push at them to deteriorate their common sense and self esteem. Even this spelling of this garbage illustrates misspelling, mispronunciation, and a willingness to allow rather than to correct and force what is proper. Now it is ok for shows, which are designed for maximum youth viewing to allow what is considered vulgar and disrespectful to be acceptable. Out of the smoky back rooms or the privacy of the bedroom and right into our prime- time living room for the children to hear and emulate! Has the moral structure of our society really sunk this low? At a time when God is offensive to others or questioned as being appropriate and embattled in the Supreme Court, the FCC has the audacity to say that this kind of language is acceptable. Is nobody offended anymore when their mother, wife, girlfriend, or daughter hears this and other even more offensive words when they are having dinner or walking in the evening? We as a nation had much more respect for our children and women when it was commonplace for the bar man to shout lady present and bring an end to the use of some of these words or have the offender removed. In days when mom, wife, son, daughter, and child/children held an elite level of respect right up there with a belief in God it seems to me that a higher degree of respect for ourselves, our families and our country flourished. We didnt have youth with underwear showing in the schools, them telling their Mother or Father no or go ahead you cant hurt me. We didnt have ladies talking like men to try to prove how tough they could be. What we had was respect and a desire to improve ourselves, a willingness to rise above whatever pulled us down and show ourselves in a better light even if all around us was in decay; we didnt want to be a part of that. Today, it seems that the decay has over come and that is what we want our youth to strive to be part of. Now a government agency is encouraging it by allowing detrimental elements to invade the very place we should hold sacred and as the last bastion of hope for our children, our home. Its ok now for desks, cars, and awards to be F-ing brilliant or F-ing whatever we want it to be because this word is NOT offensive if it does not refer to a sexual act. Well if that is ok then I think this is a F-ing DISGRACE! I think this is in fact another F-ing travesty and another F-ing rung pulled out of the ladder of decency. And if this is offensive to you, then I suggest you call, write, or knock on the door of your F-ing representatives and tell them to start representing the good people of this country and stop catering to the F-ing idiots that only want to tear it down! The above paragraph has been sanctioned and approved by the Federal Communications Commission. Please direct all objections to the Chairman. ------------ Email Edward M.
