"Clintonism" is back in the news
June 16, 2003

Well, here we go again! "Clintonism" is back in the news. Hillary has surfaced after having had to fade into the woodwork and hide while the big events of past two years stole the limelight. Terrorism and War are not issues that she wanted to be questioned about in any detail, nor could she risk being associated with any particular stance on the situation. The Clinton motto is: don't speak out until the public opinion surveys have given you direction. She deftly sidestepped all the hard questions and any accountability. Now she has emerged with her trademark spin on the only subject that really seems to interest her which is, of course, Hillary - the eternal victim and her life of woe. Her biography is out. It has been duly noted for its insipidity, and yes, it is the same old (unbelievable!) story.

Even if we could actually believe anything either of the Clintons say, it is their motives that are most unsettling. Hillary is hard and devious, and her politics are destructive and backward - the outdated product of a radical 1960's socialistic order. What do people who are rushing out to buy her book think they're going to find out? At this point, even Hillary wouldn't know the truth if she stumbled over it - and what riviting insights could her story possibly impart? My boggled mind goes blank here.

Speaking of insipid, there was that interview Hillary did with Barbara Walters. It is absolutely unimaginable that anyone could have interest in the book after witnessing this encounter. I don't know which one of these two women is more frightening, but the combination is almost unbeatable.

With all that's going on in this country, why would anyone possibly care about the Clinton's personal lives - again? Our nation has been dragged down this disfunctional road too many times by this narcissistic, power-for-power's-sake twosome. The most amazing aspect of all this hoopla is that their carrying on should logically be a complete non-issue in the grander scheme of things.

And even stranger yet, Hillary seems to have given prestige to the disfunctional act of enabling. Perhaps those who admire her so much actually relate to her mindset, and they themselves feel somewhow vindicated by her ability to perservere without ever facing reality or taking responsibility for her participation in the enabling partnership. She has never held Bill accountable, and in turn, their followers never hold either of them accountable - for anything! The slippery slope is always the Clinton's platform.

Hillary is smart, organized, and ambitious - and absolutely driven to fulfill her own pathological need for self-affirmation. The bemused and bedragled Democratic party desparately needs to move on from "Clintionism" and go forward to regain its integrity and the ideals and values that once defined the party.
