June 6, 2003 You may have heard the one about how the Pope came to Washington D.C. to meet with President Bush. You know, the Pope ask if President Bush would be kind enough to take him site seeing on the Delaware. Not long after the Sequoia got under way, the Pope's tall white hat blew off his head and landed in the water. Naturally, they stopped the boat and a secret service man started to take off his shoes, watch etc. to dive in the water and retrieve the Pope's hat. President Bush stopped the secret serviceman and told him he would get the hat. Imagine everyones surprise when the President stepped over the edge of the boat and walked out to the hat, picked it up and walked back to the boat giving the hat to a stunned Pope. The network news didn't carry the story. Instead, the opted for a human interest fluff piece on Chelsa Clinton and rowing at Oxford. CNN did carry the story, the commerical teaser was "Bush Can't Swim, details when we return." Fox News, also carried the story. Their teaser went like this, "President Bush retrieves Pope's hat by walking on water. Or, did he know where the stepping stones where? Fair and Balanced? You decide. So there it is, in a nut shell the Networks so great distain for the greatness President Bush delivers. Over at CNN Paula Zahn posing as a Clintonite delivers the story with a look of concern, "President Bush step overboard while crusing the waters of the Delaware in an effort to recover the Pope's hat. Appearntly, the President can't swim. Somehow the President barely makes it back to the boat after retrieving the Pope's hat. as the cameraman pans away from Paula Assun. On Fox and friends, they told the story as reported but went the extra mile to get the facts, the President had indeed walked on water. But the truth is, they felt compelled to honor him as he was, an honst and determined Presdent. Finally, the Pope spoke up. It must have been a miracle, George Bush actuallt walked on water that must have been frozen. In June? So, there it is, Fox and Friends once again, was the only one that actually got it.
