June 3, 2003 What is up with the left-wing in this country and the world in general? It seems as though hypocrisy, misinformation, and blind ideology are the virtues of liberals today, and i've had it. Weapons of Mass Destruction, human rights, and even the Eric Rudolph case all have elements of the aforementioned 3 pillars of liberalism. I was getting my nightly fill of the cablenews primetime shows when an issue close to my heart, abortion, arose on Scarborough Country. Just to put my cards on the table, i'm pro-life. I was enraged by Vicki Saporta of the National Abortion Federation when she called the groups Eric Rudolph was associated with, "an extreme wing of the anti-choice movement". This is equivilent to myself calling the World Workers Party an extreme wing of the Democratic Party. True? Of course not, just a poor attempt to defame Right to Life. It doesn't take a rocket scientist, or an abortion doctor for that matter, to figure out that someone who sets off bombs to kill people is not a believer in Right to Life. Amnesty International recently came out saying that the United States is the biggest danger to human rights in the world. Hmm, I wonder if they had Noam Chomsky craft their document for them. This is ridiculous, and all you have to do is look back through recent history and you can draw many conclusions to the contrary. Blind ideology rules the day again. When asked why they never seem to speak out against despots like Castro, the government of Zimbabwe, etc. they simply say "its on our website", yet everytime they get cameratime, not surprisingly, they bash the U.S. I'll call a spade a spade, Amnesty International is a left-wing, anti-american institution. Yes they do many good things, but by calling a 2 of clubs an ace of spades they have relegated themselves to the role of joker. Ah yes the WMD's. Where are they, we want them now, Now, NOW. Well go find them then. I grow weary of saying "patience is a virtue"(obviously not for liberals) so i'll just restate what reknown liberal columnist Thomas Friedman recently said, seeing the mass graves is enough for me. I suppose a few liberals have the humility to open their eyes once in a while, but talk about a needle in a haystack. ------------ Email Jonathan Robbins: jcrob@hsonline.net Comment on this column in the forum. ------------ |
