Response to Scott Jones and Dakota Vollmer
June 1, 2003

First before I go on making comment or critique of Scott's and Dakota's articles , let me say that I can tell by the reading of these guys and there thoughts that I would very much enjoy hangin with these dudes.

Just by the mere fact they there are concerned enough to give thought to their surroundings, tells me that I would so enjoy having good times with these two. So in no way am I against them, I just want to comment on their perspectives on the below specific points. In fact some of my closest friends and I will have many heated debates on various subjects.

So Scott and Dakota, please take the below responses with a grain of salt.

Scott Jones wrote a really good article on the two party system and that it has to go. Scott I believe in your Aim but not the process.

Scott I disagree and here's why:

1. You said: Voting the "party line" is no longer an acceptable strategy in regard to dealing with these challenges. We must take the next step in our evolution as a nation and eliminate political party affiliations all together.

2. Then later your proposal of changes might give way to a true representative government that would also have the built in safeguard of a more actively involved populace. This change would not only affect our elected officials, but also demand that each and every one of us recognize our role in the governing and direction of our country.

On both Points above I agree that we need some changes, no doubt about that but, the problem can be tweaked and still achieve what the Forefathers of this country intended-Fair Representation!

If we can instill a failsafe against a long incumbency we can then gain back fair reps. The intended term life of a congressman in the beginning was no more than 2 years.

Also if we add line item veto, what a major difference this can make not only in federal governments but State Govts as well.

I believe with just these two changes you would see a miraculous difference in attitude and the speaking of hearts that you seek.

See I want the two parties, mainly because there are always two ways, or sides to attack an issue. This check and balance, if ran correctly can really do well. The problem started with long one sided control, and the incumbents.

Dakota also wrote an effective article on Brett Bursey and the free speech Zone. Dakota I don't know about you but there is a HUGE piece of this puzzle missing. First I'm not so sure the story on this guy Brett is all there. I mean as slanted as the media is they would be having a field day with this.

You talk as though no one can have a say against this administration. Come On Dude !! Turn on any news broadcast (with exception of Fox) and Man that's All I HEAR! Believe me because I am (admittedly) a republican, and I have to really try hard to find someone on TV on My Side !!! THANK GOD FOR TALK RADIO!!

Besides your right this guy was railroaded. Believe Me, with all the protests I see and had to walk through this has GOT to be an Isolated Incident.

But I am curious how is it that you focused on this one story and have not talked about all the protestors against the G8 Summit in France who admitted that they would block roads and gas stations and even had shops shut down due to their presence and threats! I mean these people are doing far worse and hardly anyone is speaking out against such rude not to mention illegal behavior.

Strange that you would pick this one thing and not so many other atrocities.
