The Walls Have Ears
Mar 30, 2004

A couple of weeks ago the Supreme Court voted to raise the FCC Fine of indecency. They have determined certain words no longer allowed on the radio in any sense. The words are woodpecker, camel’s hump, Pussycat, head, nail, blows, bones, ram, hole, box, ass, cock in any sense. This is unconstitutional. Words that are deemed as obscene are subjective. So, now because of what happened at the Super Bowl a month ago, every live award show now is on a five-minute delay. It is unfair that the FCC is to decide.

Someone with an agenda could be listening to the radio or watching television and claim something that is totally innocent to some as obscene resulting in cancellation of you’re favorite show.

I believe that what happened with Howard stern was blown out of proportion. He wasn’t the one who said the comment in the first place. It was a caller. I have always believed that old saying. I may not always believe in everything you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

We could also assume that the FCC’s next objective will be to try to clean up cable of its obscenity and violence. Imagine a nicer more gentle, Tony Soprano. Imagine the Sex and the City girls, all-living as nuns in New York City. Or watered down movies making the actors look as smooth as Barbie and Ken. Separate beds, ten feet apart in a married couples bedroom. Allowing one foot on the bed when the couple is on the same bed. A hot steamy, kiss scene reduced to a peck on a cheek or a friendly handshake? Is this what we are to look forward to in the future?
