Mar 30, 2004 Today, like most days, should be a day for profound introspection. Haven’t you noticed that when you make time to sit and think things become clear (sometimes frightening so?) I’ll admit Religion isn’t normally my strong suit. I have what I believe, and I’ll go along with whatever everyone else believes unless it involved sacrificing virgins, that is just too messy for my tastes. Just for fun I went to a bible study class with a friend of mine the other night. Very interesting, we prayed, talked about various books in the Bible, and then talked about spiritual gifts. “One should find one’s gift so they may use it for the purpose God has created it for.” Which is jolly good and all, but that makes me wonder what purpose God would bestow, and how one would find out that purpose? When I asked this question to the group they all laughed and said when I was old and gray I would look back and know my purpose. But I want to learn it now, I want to control my own destiny. True, I don’t mine being an instrument for God, however, there is no grace in ignorance. I would rather be a willing helper than an unknowing servant. So how do you know? I am aware of what I believe is my spiritual gift, but I’m not sure how to put it to work for the greater good, be it God or humanity. Or both for that matter. So I put this question out there for you. What is your gift, and what is it’s purpose? ------------ Email Catherine Stone: rumpleteaser0697@yahoo.com Tell a friend about this site! ------------ |
