Feb 5, 2004 Whether you are planning your next family outing, a weekend getaway or a romantic night on the town, New York City is the place to visit. New Your City has some of the best attractions around. In New York City you can find the Magic of Broadway at several dozen theaters centered around Time Square located between 41st and 55th streets and Eighth and Sixth avenues). The main distinction is that Broadway Theaters feature the big name starts, writers and directors in a larger showroom. Off Broadway venues usually seat less than 300 and lean more towards avant-grad and revivals although they can still surpass mainstream Broadway in artistry. If Broadway is not the place for you then you can visit Central Park. This park is 840-acre wooded and landscaped parkland retreat in the midst of the big city. It extends from 59th to 110th streets and from Fifth Ave to Central Park West. The easy way to enjoy the park is to partake of a narrated buggy ride. They'll help you discover the many gardens, woodlands, lakes and other cool features of the park. Another attractions is one of the best museums in America, the American Museum of Natural History includes a wide range of permanent and changing exhibits. Many cultures are explored. There are some 42 exhibit halls with over 36 million artifact displays. You can also visit the Lila Acheson Wallace Wing of Mammals and Extinct Relatives. This museum has several exhibit halls filled with dinosaur displays. The dinosaur hall alone has over 100 specimens including a Tyrannosaurus Rex and Apatosaurus. Other fossil displays cover more mammals and ancient fish. This museum has one of the largest fossil displays in the world. Nearby is the new Rose Center for Earth and Space and it includes several new space science exhibits including Hayden Planetarium, Hall of the Universe, and Hall of Planet Earth. ------------ Email Tequesta Walker: teewalkertq@aol.com Comment on this column in the forum.
