Aug 29, 2003 For readers that responded to my purely speculative theory about the earth overheating, this should clarify that I am as far from a Global Warming proponent as could be. I often say to people, “If anything AT ALL is happening . . . maybe the earth is overheating.” I also suggest that hundreds of tons of kerosene (jet fuel) being burned in the upper atmosphere daily is affecting the ozone and probably the weather. ____________________ Type “The Oregon Petition” into Google and you’ll find something you will not see a trace of on Canada.ca.gov, the Canadian, Kyoto propaganda site. You’ll find out that 17,000 (yes thousand) scientists have signed petitions objecting to bogus Global Warming theorizing! http://www.sepp.org/pressrel/petition.html http://www.oism.org/pproject/ Oh wait. . . it is now called “Climate Change” so that regardless of record colds being registered everywhere (see St. Lawrence Seaway ice, delaying spring shipping opening) Global Warming can still be cited as the cause and so the Kyoto can be touted as the cure-all and taxation plan for all fuels can proceed. They don’t want any of the cold weather records being set conflicting with the Kyoto scam. Never mind that every tree and plant pumps out CO2 at night, and NEEDS CO2 all day in order to produce oxygen! Growth only flourishes with more CO2 yet people willingly parrot the generated phobia about it! The whole of Canada has gone off like oxen to the slaughter in giving their blessing to the signing of Kyoto and those that objected were simply railroaded by our despicable, anti-American Prime Minister. It was a brilliant plan! First, dole out money to study groups and organizations dependent on grants and who pride themselves on their sensitivity to all things environmental. They will then totally convince the public that we have a greenhouse gas (or whatever) crisis of Global proportions on our hands. Add to the mix the crisis generating of the CBC (the equivalent of state-owned T.V. in a communist country) and the radio propaganda messages of the almighty “government of Canada” encouraging you to “do your part to save us from “devastating” climate change” and the inroad to the tax grab is paved and ready for the money trucks. Oh yes. . .work it so that the hapless public thinks that “pollution” and “global warming” are synonymous so as to keep the blind optimism toward a “global solution” at a peak and the tax base as broad as it can possibly be. The most classic image of the groundlessness of it all is that cattle flatulence and the resultant Methane is now being called “a serious concern”! People’s environmental concern has been cleverly and deceitfully manipulated; their naive faith in the great Kyoto solution is about to be capitalized on via this up-and-coming exercise of “Global Village” government policy that is nothing more than the equivalent of another, sales tax as irreversible as our Canadian GST that made everyone so furious. Only this time much of money will be going to the U.N. gaggle in which a country like Libya can be in charge of “Human rights”. Even if the greenhouse gasses of Kyoto’s flawed theory really did have anything to do with feigned governmental concern for pollution, why is it then that the sales of diesel vehicles is up a whopping 33 percent in oh-so-Kyoto-concerned EUROPE (and proportionately here) this year over last!! Anyone foolish enough to think that massive (up to 20%) taxes on ALL fuels will magically clean up the air had better give their heads a shake. Greenhouse CO2, despite the convoluted, study-group-funded diatribes to the contrary, has NOTHING to do with the “real” in-your-face toxicity of pollution like diesel exhaust. In a Wednesday night Channel 6 TV news story on the rising cost of fuel, a Victoria new car dealer says that diesel vehicles are selling better than any of his other vehicles because of the mileage. Of course prospective buyers aren’t told that diesel is the worst bloody air quality catastrophe ever conceived since the petroleum industry took Rudolph Diesel’s beautiful peanut oil engines and decided to burn oil in them. Some of these Golf and Jetta buyers drive away thinking they are actually doing the environment a favor! Tell that to someone out for a walk! So not only does Global Warming not have a realistic thing to do with pollution, Kyoto taxation will drive people to driving more diesel. So much for the oft-touted rhetoric that fuel taxation is a good thing because it will inspire people will drive less. No reaction could be more counter productive with regards to a realistic fight against REAL pollution than the increased use of diesel vehicles! But the oil industry and the U.N. are both rubbing their hands in anticipation and delighted with our having been duped into signing on to signing away so much future slush-fund cash. They get to sell more of the product that makes them THE MOST PROFIT (cheap-to-produce diesel fuel OIL) the U.N. can look forward to bleeding Canada for tax dollars and the diesel engine and vehicle manufacturers can continue wining and dining each other. . . all thanks to Kyoto. The Americans didn’t sign onto Kyoto because the Republicans knew it was an elaborate Global Village/ Liberal Democrat tax sting, calculatedly reinforced by Al Gore and the UN at their meeting in Rio. The U.S. refusal to let the U.N. milk U.S. prosperity, I think set the stage for the stick-in-the-spokes that the U.N. became throughout the Iraq war. Kyoto was and is all about the imposition of “Eco-tax” on ALL fuels — even the non-polluting! The impending war will no doubt be somehow utilized to help camouflage Canadian Kyoto increases. Very soon the highway-earmarked, fuel price increase instituted by B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell will seem like chicken feed in comparison to Kyoto taxation.
