Sept. 30, 2004 There seems to be a prevailing point of view across the world that the United Nations is the Goverment of the world. Not only is there not a one world goverment,if there was, why would any one want such a benign organization to be such. It is easy to show how the U.N is irrelevent and has lived longer then it's original purpose was needed. Let's just take one example. The war on Iraq. Seventeen resolutions. That in itself should take Grandpa to the resting home. If you had to scold your child seventeen times and still was unsuccessful in achieving any respect, would you consider yourself in control of the situation? America is the biggest contributor to the U.N. Yet, the U.N. is quick to bite the hand that feeds it. Would you accept that behavior from a complete stranger on the street? Would you accept it from a close friend? Constantly spitting on you and knocking you down. Then instead of helping you up, the extended hand is waiting for a hand out or just plain lifting your wallet. The U.N. can acknowledge the birth of a nation like Isreal and at the same time acknowledge phantom States like Palestine. Now perhaps you feel that Palestine deserves their own State, but if you were real about the situation, you would also be speaking out against Jordan which happens to be " occupying" Palestinian land too; which seems to not bother any one. I have always been under the impression that you have to actually be a State before you can be "occupied", maybe I am wrong. End terrorism first, then negotiate. You wouldn't give your kid candy just to keep them from kicking you in the shins would you? Libya, the country behind the Lockerbie bombing, chairs a seat on the U.N.'s Human Rights committee. Need I say any more about that? The main complaint that most in the U.N. and our media seem to cry about, is the fact that the U.N. did not formally support this conflict in Iraq, there for it is illegal some how. Now to the best of my ability I can only come up with three different times a country has sought U.N. blessing to go to war. America for the Korean war. America for Gulf war One. America for war in Iraq. Now, does that mean every other country that has gone to war since the creation of the U.N. that has not seeked U.N.approval has done so illegally? If so, why does the U.N. remain silent of such aks? Are they intimidated for some reason? Or could it be that America, this evil empire with the strongest military every known to man, is actually so nice you can push us around to make yourself appear to have power? Here is something that you should consider when looking at those we call allies that did not back us in this war, including the U.N. Just as we beat the U.S.S.R. in the cold war with out firing a single shot {so they say},delivering communism a body blow T.K.O. The beast has risen again giving it's power to Socialism but having the same goal of taking us down, only killing us softly. This time it is using our technique of destroying us from the inside out. In that, they find common ground with our other enemy, middle- eastern terrorist. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. So when you see all the hatred for our country in protest, burning our flag, propaganda posters compairing our President to Hitler etc. etc. Stop for a moment, spend a second thought, question their motives and research the finacial backers of the organizations holding the protest or rallies. It may wake you up! Never let the rest of the world, including the U.N., tell us when we can protect ourselves. Vote in 2004! God Bless America!
