John Walker Lindh Is Asking For WHAT??

By Karyn Hughes
Sept. 29, 2004

John Walker Lindh – better known as the American Taliban - was a 20 year-old converted Muslim from California when American soldiers discovered him in Afghanistan in 2001, fighting alongside the Taliban against the Northern Alliance.

An American CIA agent was killed during a prison uprising that “Johnny Boy” participated in. The American soldiers who found him injured even gave him medical attention for his bullet wound instead of putting another one into his head. After being interrogated for weeks on a Navy ship, he was flown home where he plead guilty in a civilian court to supplying services to the Taliban government and carrying explosives for them in exchange for a 20-year sentence.

Johnny Boy got off easy. He’ll be in his early forties by the time he gets out – still young enough to marry and breed, God forbid. Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were sent to the electric chair for their treasonous acts of aiding the Communist party during the 1950’s.

Johnny Boy’s mother, Marilyn Walker, insists her son was a good boy, and said he "has never had any sympathy or involvement in terrorist activity.” Okay, Mom, he admitted to training at an Al Queda camp, knowing their anti-U.S. position, and met Osama bin Laden, who thanked him for taking part in the Jihad!

Ms. Walker should be proud. To raise a son who would even choose to be part of the Taliban, radical Islamics who are best known for their atrocities against women, such as shooting them in the streets if their shoes squeaked. Though they’ve been referred to as the Taliban government, the Taliban are really warlords who conquered the Soviet Union from taking over Afghanistan, then exercised their stronghold over most of the country – and it’s existing government. All this happened on Clinton’s watch, folks!

For the next ten or so years, the Taliban forbade women from leaving their homes without a male relative, and they had to paint all their windows black so men couldn’t look inside. They weren’t even allowed to enjoy sunshine or a breath of fresh air! Girls were banned from attending school. Women were banned from earning a living, which means single mothers had to beg and do God- knows-what to feed their children. Women could not even seek medical attention since female doctors could only see them. They were scarce since women were not allowed to work!

When women did venture out, they had to be covered from head-to-toe in a burqua, similar to if you were to go outside dressed as a ghost for Halloween. Burquas only had enough see-through mesh to barely expose women’s eyes. Because their peripheral vision was blocked, women were often hit by cars when they crossed the streets.

A few brave women got together and treated their daughters to an underground education, but they could be punished by death if they were discovered.

The women who didn’t flee the country before the Taliban took control no longer had a reason to live. Many committed suicide by swallowing household cleaners such as lye and bleach. Women also died during childbirth since they couldn’t get medical attention. The infant mortality rate also rose during these years.

Now Johnny Boy is asking President Bush to WHAT? Commute his prison sentence for aiding the Taliban! I’m ready to explode!

Johnny Boy’s lawyer said his sentence should be reduced because Yaser Esam Hamdi, another American citizen captured in Afghanistan on suspicion of aiding the Taliban, is being released after being held as an enemy combatant for the past three years. Hamdi is also being sent back to his motherland, Saudi Arabia, and has to give up his U.S. Citizenship. I doubt he’ll ever be allowed back for a visit.

As a mother who loves her son dearly, I can honestly say, from the bottom of my heart, that if my Wes committed the same atrocities as Johnny Boy, I’d shoot him myself!
