John Kerry’s Wife Had An Opium-Trading Grandfather [Not John Kerry]

By Mark C. Durfee
Sept. 28, 2004

If I could I would let it all pass; the constant jibes and discourse on civility from the right. (That is the conservatives…not the correct.) How many times in the past week have my eyes been subject to some drum thumping cheer leader tell me I am uncivilized because I dare to not use an honorific? How un-civilized is that accusation. I would allow the insult to not only my character but also my limited intellect just slough off; if I could but I can not.

I can’t let such rage pass. I can’t let someone say that they feel because one bothers to research an opinion and come to an informed course to follow, they are merely ideologues trumpeting the opinion of some shadowy liberal master. Does this sound foolish to anyone’s ears but my own?

I have read more than once, lately, that global warming for example, is a liberal myth sent out from the fallow regions of liberalhalla to vex the earnest desires of the energy industry, which by the way did nothing to create a hole the size of Montana in the ozone layer or to decimate the trees of New England and the Maritimes of Canada with acid rain. Acid rain is also a liberal creation; another dodge to thwart the energy industry. I could present the research here that shows that unburned hydrocarbons and oxides of nitrogen are in fact polluting the atmosphere but then science is suspected to be a liberal conspiracy so what would be the point? Even the EPA is lying when they issue an Ozone action alert; because we all know that even in its Bush administration relaxed condition it it is a front organization for the UN.

I have read more than once that I am a lazy sucker of government services because I am un-educated and un-willing to buckle down long enough to forgo purchasing a DVD and ravishing a white virgin for a booty call to attain that education, which I can neither afford nor would be able to understand if the government would be so kind to provide it.

I should just let it roll on through my consciousness taking no more note of it than I do the beating of my own heart. It is there, I know it is, I accept it as the gift of God. The beating of my heart I can accept not the insane rants of the conservatives of this place; I tried but it is too hard. When a person who appears rational is trying to express an opinion but that opinion devolves into such rage that he winds up by saying, “Democrats make me sick” that opinion becomes something I can not let go of; that is a rage that needs addressing, preferably with drugs like Zoloft © or Paxcil© but seeing as I can not deliver those I can deliver these words

. Yes I am a liberal, I do buy DVDs and I still like to make love with my wife. I could have gone to college when I was seventeen but opted instead to enlist because, even though they could afford it, I thought I was not a good enough student to do well in school.

So I went to work, where I finally wound up working eighteen hour days to make somewhere in the area of sixty thousand a year. I know that qualifies me for sainthood according to the conservative pantheon but it really doesn’t because I wound up in an industrial accident where I now draw disability. I can’t help but think what things will be like when we revert to the days, prior to that great REPUBLICAN Theodore Roosevelt, (yes Teddy not Franklin) where there is no more social insurance, be it Workers Compensation or Social Security. Both government entitlement programs of the type railed against by some here. I would go to work, injure myself to the point where I am no longer able to function in any meaningful capacity and my employer would be free to fire me and hire another body to do the work. Why? Because I made a choice that gave me a life, not of wealth and monetary reward but one that on most levels satisfied me, instead of trying to become some grand pooh bah of some widget manufacturing concern. My friends if you think an auto mechanic just collects a check then you have no idea what a paycheck based entirely on commission is all about or you haven’t a clue as to what a time and labor book is.

Yet because I am pro union, pro labor, for a woman’s right to choose and see nothing wrong or anti-family with allowing homosexual couples the same legal protections afforded heterosexual couples, because I do see global warming as science not conspiracy, because I do feel that there is race based disparity in this nation, because the prime minister (interim) of Iraq is (allegedly) a murderer who holds no value towards human life and I choose to not bow as some here do, because I feel that the presidents reasons for involving American sons and daughters in a war misdirected and based on lies, because I feel that the tax cuts touted by the administration was a complex form of vote buying, because in other words I do not trust Bush or Cheney or Rumsfeld or any of the other people who have led us to this current state of constant crisis, I am hated by them that oppose my views. So be it. I don’t care about your animosity and I don’t care if I ever have your respect.

What I do want, what I would like are two things, first learn how to spell and construct a sentence. You look like idiots when you don’t spell your rants and construct your sentences according to the grammar your parents spent so much cash on in sending you to college and second get a grip on your emotions. You say that as a liberal I have no respect or regard for the institutions yet you disrespect those same institutions when you rant; especially when you pointlessly rant on about things and situations that you apparently have no understanding of. You deny the history of Al Quieda and Saudi involvement in radical Islam in conjunction with the tragedy of 9/11.

You sound so foolish when you go on about how immigrants are climbing over themselves to get here because it is the land of opportunity but when a minority citizen of this nation clamors for the same opportunity they are labeled as those who depend on the government to provide all of their needs. Do you hear how racist that is?

Foreign nationals come here, displacing citizens in limited university slots so they can either stay here and displace a citizen from a job or go back to where ever they came from and take an American based job with them. Why is it that some conservatives are so willing to provide a citizen of another country an education but not a citizen of America?

Furthermore when you all carry on about John Kerry the man is a sitting United States Senator and if you choose to cal a liberal up as un- civilized when referring to the president without the honorific how much worse is your error in its intention? You clamor over what you perceive as the divisiveness he spreads because he is opposed to the president’s course of action, yet how much division are you causing by naming him as a coward? A traitor? When he in fact has acknowledged that where the president leads he must go because he (Bush, not John Kerry; not yet) is the president. And when you choose to rant on John Kerry’s actions as a combat veteran after he returned from Viet Nam you also open up the door to President Bush’ alcohol and cocaine use and his (alleged) dodging of Air National Guard service.

John Kerry, as a United States Senator has never nor would he ever do anything to injure an American serviceperson in harms way. But just for the record this President Bush has reduced funding for the Veterans Administration every year for the last three and it is President Bush’ administration that makes American Servicemen and women purchase their own plane ticket home when returning from a combat zone. He’ll bring them to these shores but the rest is on them. How callow is that? Where’s the gratitude.

Oh yeah and while I am not letting things pass, it wasn’t one of John Kerry’s Grandfathers who made their money in the Opium trade it was one of his wife’s but we can discount that because I learned that while doing research.

I could let this all pass, but I won’t; it would be uncivilized.
