John Kerry Gets Help From The Biased Associated Press

By Sher Zieve
Sept. 26, 2004

With its recent forgery debacle, Democrat surrogates CBS News and Bush-bash poster boy Dan Rather have done a truly excellent job of thoroughly discrediting themselves from reporting political news; let alone any news at all. John Kerry’s campaign still has the Boston Globe, NY Times, LA Times, Washington Post, etc. etc. stumping for them. But, the AP (second only to blatantly leftist Reuters “News” Service) has, also, picked up the bias-slack left by CBS. A recent AP “news” article illustrates my point.

On 25 September, Jennifer Loven (Associated Press Writer) wrote the article “Bush Twists Kerry’s Words on Iraq”, which was later changed to “Bush, Kerry Twisting Each Other’s Words” (so it wouldn’t give the appearance of being as biased as it really is?). The problem is that the first title more correctly expressed Ms. Loven’s views. In her article and blatant attempt to help John Kerry, Ms. Loven “explains” what Kerry “meant” when he called the President’s nation alliance in Iraq “the alliance of the coerced and the bribed”. Ms. Loven writes: “Bush mischaracterized Kerry's criticism, which has not been aimed at the countries that have contributed a relatively small number of troops and resources, but at the administration for not gaining more participation from other nations.” Note: Ms. Loven, the statement made by your candidate, Mr. Kerry, was clear and doesn’t require a ‘re- interpretation’ from a clearly partial “reporter”.

In regards to Kerry’s negative statements concerning interim PM Allawi’s speech to the Joint Houses of Congress, she states: “Kerry's point was that the optimistic assessments of postwar Iraq from both Bush and Allawi didn't match previous statements by the Iraqi leader, nor the reality on the ground, and were designed to put the "best face" on failed policies.” Desperately continuing to assist Kerry, when talking about ‘Bush on Kerry’ her words are “Bush attacks”, “Bush mischaracterizes” and “Bush opened several new scathing lines of attack against Democrat John Kerry”. At the end of her article, Loven makes reference to one example of John Kerry “playing fast and loose with Bush’s words” but, then immediately thereafter cites Dem Mary Beth Cahill as a “reason” for it. The rest of Ms. Loven’s article is a Bush-attack piece, thinly disguised as a “news report”.

Although biased toward the left for many years, the AP and the rest of the liberal MSM have markedly stepped up their attacks on President Bush. For some time, now, straight news reporting has been a thing of the past. The 4 Ws and H (who, what, when, where and how) have been replaced by leftist-slanted implanted editorials. “Straight news reporting” no longer exists. To top it off, disgraced CBS has said (from another 25 September AP report…of course) that “the network announced that Rather would anchor the network's coverage of all three presidential debates, starting Sept. 30.” Suffice it to say, CBS’ announced “investigation” into its bias-toward- the-left “news reporting” and recent use of forged documents is merely another smokescreen. CBS will conduct “business as usual”, as if its fraud and criminal behavior never happened. Unbelievable, but true.
