Computers And Software Choices

By Judy Ramsook
Sept. 25, 2004

So you just purchased a new, state of the art computer with all the added accessories that you wanted; the cdrewriteable/dvd combo drive and anything else that you wanted with it.But what if one had to purchase a different type of software for each of these programmes, other than the ones already packaged by "Microsoft?"

Placing cost aside, because with the purchase of a new computer, by the time all the necessary taxes and warranty issues have been settled, you would have spent say anywhere from fifteen hundred dollars to sometimes even up to two thousand. Especially considering elite brand names and so on. And after taking it home and setting it up, you would be pleased to know you can listen to a song or two without first spending more time and money to install another type of software to do so. What if there is indecision involved, especially if one has not researched the market for other types of computer media players.

If most computers were not built with these types of programs, the buyer would eventually have to purchase a media player or any other type of program that he/she wanted, and while it is indeed a great privelege to have choices,I would prefer to have such an item such as a computer equipped with such devices. With so many programs to choose from,it can be difficult enough if someone has to select the "right" one because anyone can be the "right" one.

For the buyer who wants individual programs, that is all well and fine, but for the one who wants to use the computer instead of being bothered with purchasing and installing new ones, there is an alternative for that as well. Most people just want their computers to work when they need to use it anyway, whether or not that involves writing, listening to music or watching a video.
