Sept. 24, 2004 I was listening to Alan Keyes on a local radio station which I will not name (Can you say Voice of St. Louis?). He brought home some interesting points. He pointed out because of Barack Obama's stand on some of the issues he didn't feel Jesus would vote for him. He was also quick to point out he didn't believe Jesus would automatically vote for him either, just that He wouldn't vote for Mr. Obama. I am of a mind Jesus would be above politics, but can't help wonder if he wouldn't rather have someone in an office who respected life. Oh, sure democrats claim they respect life, just don't expect to pin them down. It's like trying to catch hold of an oiled slug. Slippery and disgusting. They won't say when life begins. I want to think while Jesus loves both Mr. Obama and Mr. Keyes he would want both of them to do what is right. I don't believe Jesus would believe abortion was right. As a matter of fact he said "Let the little children come unto me." He blessed the children and said if any would come to him let them come as a little child. Children are innocent, trusting, and have a great deal of faith in the impossible. I also feel, and of course this is my opinion (though I think Alan Keyes shares it) that Jesus would disapprove of gay marriages also. I am not going to sit here on judgement about gays(which I think is a misnomer since I don't think they're any happier than anyone else.) I just think Jesus would say what the scripture said: "Man and Woman created he them." I think he would point out the relationship between man and woman was the design God had in mind and the law of Moses declaring Man should not lie down with man as with a woman. He didn't come, he said, to do away with the law and the prophets, but fulfill them. Of course, I don't pretend to being a theologian. Other then having had a few religion classes in college, read the Bible cover to cover several times and having studied it on my own I claim nothing as far as having a theological inside. While he did say you had to pay taxes(Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's and unto God the things which are God's) he also said we would always have the poor among us. He also encouraged his listeners to give to the poor, not pay their taxes and leave the government to take care of them. He wanted us to help those who didn't have directly from those who did. Not redirected through the greedy paws of the government. (ie.: Big Democrat run Government). Be that as it may, I don't think there's any argument who Jesus would vote for. Nobody, he'd be a citizen of Israel, not this country. He wouldn't be able to vote over here. Nuff said.
