Sept. 23, 2004 Imagine how shocked I was when i heard about the hurricane Ivan in some of the United States of America cities. I couldn't help but thank God and mother nature for giving my country- Nigeria a peaceful enviroment. Even though we are faced with so many problems, we still live in an enviroment where there is no fear of tornado, hurricane and volcanic eruption. Our land belongs to the little number of countries that enjoy the story of extinct volcano. What a priviledge. Actually to be candid, I pity the souls that are lost in the hurricane and I pity the families that lost their property. In everything, we should look for an oppourtunity to give thanks. At least some cases are even worst than our own. I think the best thing to do in such cases is to pray to God for a better nature and to look for ways of preventing it in the future. ------------ About the author Olamide Ayeni: A 21 year old female.
