These Strangers

By Rachelle Ann Ramos
Sept. 21, 2004

I'm dressed in black
Staring at the dead ones in the coffin
Who are they
Why am I here

People ask me
"Why aren't you crying dear"
I just say "I don't know these people,
These people in the coffins are strangers

They never knew who I was
Nor I, them
They weren't there when I mourned my first love
Or when I was emotionally dead to the world

My life was oblivious to them,
They knew nothing of me, or
Who I really was, or who
I am now

They were strangers then,
As they are strangers now
I don't know them
I don't know why I'm here

Mourning strangers
Strangers I've known my whole life
I don't talk to strangers,
Let alone mourn them"

About the author Rachelle Ann Ramos: I'm attempting to be an author, at any age writing a book is an amazing feat. But I bet it's harder when your just a highschool freshmen. I have always dreamed about being an author of an inspiring book in which teenagers can relate to. I certainly hope I can get through this let alone highschool.
