Sept. 15, 2004 Rush Limbaugh can surely be credited with the phrase “For the Dems and the liberal MSM, the preponderance of the charges outweigh the preponderance of the evidence”. This is clearly detected on CBS’s Memogate. Although it has been proven that the ANG memos are surely forgeries, Dan Rather, CBS and the Dems are demanding answers from President Bush on the contents of the memos. Never mind that the memos more than likely are forgeries, what is important are the charges. In a CBS statement it says, “Most importantly, the content of the documents was backed up by our reporting and our sources who knew the thoughts and behavior of Lt. Col. Jerry Killian at the time." What CBS is saying is that we should be focusing on the charges and not on the fact that the memos are forgeries. This is nothing less than admissions that CBS knows the memos are forgeries. President Bush has had numerous charges levied against him during this campaign, charges that are not based on true facts nor based on truth, but for the liberals, the preponderance of the charges require answers by the President. Let me make an analogy for illustration of this point. Let’s say that a hand written letter was discovered and released to the media in which someone (Mr. X for the sake of argument) mentions that Mr. Rather murdered Mr. Y. Mr. X gives the details of place, method and motive for the murder. After extensive inspection by handwriting experts, it was found that this letter did not represent Mr. X’s handwriting and therefore the letter was a forgery. Using CBS’s and the liberal MSM standards, the fact that the letter is a forgery is not important, what is important is that Mr. Rather defends and explains the contents of the letter. Again I want to make it clear that this analogy is just what it is to make a point. El Rushbo is right, it is the preponderance of the charges that the Liberals find of importance. ------------ About the author Al Young: I am a disgusted former registered democrat.
