Sept. 14, 2004 So do you know what it’s like to be rich? Probably not. I sure don’t. I know some people who are sort of “well-off” meaning they can afford their health insurance without thinking about it and pay for the gasoline in their new cars without wondering if it’s a lean food week. That’s not me either. So we got these two guys who came of age during the 70’s. They both come from rich families. They both went to Yale. They both belong to the same secret club, The Skull and Bones, with Kerry going first. So when John Kerry was a senior, George W. Bush was a sophomore? Maybe. Did they belong to fraternities too? We got one kid in this whole family who belongs to a fraternity. Some of us have gone to college, but it was mostly while we worked one or two jobs and didn’t have time for any old fraternity or sorority. Pardon me. My cat got a request once in the mail to donate to the local community college. He declined saying it was short of being de-clawed to give money to an institution that doesn’t allow cats to enter. So how much does it cost to go to Yale? I don’t know and don’t feel like looking it up. Okay so maybe there are two parties, the Republicans and the Democrats. And a few OTHER parties are lurking around. But here’s MY take. These two guys went to the same party, had the same clothes and both got to go to the Prom. I don’t feel like they can represent me in any real way. Each of them swears that HE is THE ONE who is going to do THIS OR THAT, forgetting (of course) about the Senate and the House. Now those are people who might be more like you and me. But they’re party-go-Ers, too. It’s the Big Game, with the Party-GoERS against the Axis of Evil according to some reports. I don’t know who would want to be a referee either. Bush is going to lead the OB-GYN cheerleaders at half-time and Kerry’s going to lead the BAND during the show, and the Switch Party Dancers also know as Arnie‘s Girlie Guys, are going to raise the bar for fashion garb. I think I’ll just wait and read about it later -- like after the election. That other college is gonna elect our “President” anyway. My cat is out schlepping the streets to encourage voter turn-out. I have to help him with the sign-up sheets. He’s telling everyone that we should all vote to make our voices heard. No doubt, he’s purring while he says this. They won’t notice whether he’s a cat or dog by this saturation date in the election campaign.
