The Rich Actually Want You To Succeed!

By Fred Paxson, Phd.
Sept. 12, 2004

Anyone with even a little bit of ambition can succeed in the United States. Yes, anyone can make it in this country! There is nothing to be gained by the rich when people are poor! The "rich" are the capitalists of this nation...they make and sell goods (things) and services. The more money the average person has, the more they may buy (from these "rich" people). If the average person in the US were a millionaire, the very rich would grow fantastically richer from selling them things! Don't you see? Bill Gates, Donald Trump, Warren Buffett and their ilk wouldn't have a penny to their names if America hadn't bought what they were selling! The rule is: The more you do for society, the better you're rewarded. Mr. Gates has increased society's productivity a thousand- fold, therefore, we reward him and he is the richest man on Earth. Mr. Trump provides entertainment, luxury housing and other services, and he is amply rewarded. Mr. Buffett knows what we want, he buys up companies that are providing it, and he makes himself and his fellow shareholders rich.

Even the poorest of the poor are provided for in America. There are "food stamps", free USDA food, housing subsidies, Aid For Families with Dependent Children (AFDC aka "welfare")payments, free health insurance (Medicaid) and much more. I have worked with the "homeless" and my personal observation is that most had either drug or alcohol issues (or both). Most truly poor people in other countries would look upon our poor as at least middle class. Over 78% of households below the poverty line own a TV, a car and a microwave oven!

If you are currently poor, my suggestion is to take advantage of any free educational benefits (including training on the Internet), look into grants, scholarships or student loans, go to your closest library and get any books you can find on job searching, writing resumes, etc..and go to your nearest State Employment Service or WIN office to find out what programs they have available. If you are 16-24, Job Corps will teach you a trade to last a lifetime, just do a Google search to find the location nearest you. Senior? AARP, Green Thumb and many other organizations will aid you. If you are disabled, the State Vocational Rehabilitation department is there to assist you. Never give up! Millions before you have risen from poverty, and you can, too!
