Sept. 5, 2004 I was minded when I heard the other day the President had remarked he didn't think we would ever win the war on terror of what the Bible (for those of you in Rio Linda, or West Palm Beach Florida that's a book read by those mean old church folks) says about the poor. We'll always have them among us. The reason for this is the same reason we will always have liberals and bullies. There will always be those who think fear is a way of getting their will done. Fear, Terror, Browbeating, Bullying, Namecalling, Abusing those who they see as opposing them, or their wills. They rant and rave and froth at the mouth and kill (bodily, or otherwise) those they see opposing them. The day may come when we finally see an end of terrorism, but that may be the day we also actually see the Star Trek future I have written about before. If it is within my lifetime I may be very old. Rush Limbaugh, I've heard, is a little more hopeful. He thinks liberals at least are a dying breed. I will wait and see, but that still leaves the poor and terrorists. The end of this will be when humanity finally grows up. The day people care enough about each other to the point we no longer have the poor amoung us will be the day that terror will no longer be a force. You can't terrorize someone who has nothing to fear, or be afraid of. I do, however, believe the war on terror will be won. I also believe if any people, or country, had the keys to do that it would be the United States. We are a pretty compassionate people. We send aid even to those we've not long ago saw as enemies. The Germans, the Japanesse, Iraqis, Russians...need I go on? We will win the war on terror. The President knows this. What I believe he was saying, and I believe more articulate people then myself have expressed this, there is not just one country where terrorists reside. There are terrorists in every country, even ours. Until we weed our own backyard (gee, that brings back painful memories) as well as the various yards of the world,(I hope we're getting paid for this, sorry...was that community service, or something? Did I miss something here?) we will still have to fight, but then someone suggested loving our enemies. Hmmm, that might work, too. Nuff said!
