Oct. 25, 2004 John Kerry’s non-stop expostulating in regards to the capture of Osama Bin Laden is very tiresome and quixotic. Our history of war has not been one that exemplifies immediate results. We only have to consider the years we took to defeat Hitler. Kerry asserts, “Osama Bin Laden has not been captured or killed, al Qaeda remains a threat as it transforms and changes.” World War II demanded six years of ongoing battles to finally defeat Hitler and the Third Reich. Kerry made the statement, “As all of you know, in this war on terror we're not facing off against one man, Osama bin Laden, or two or 20. It is not just one network. It's not even the threat of terrorism itself.” He admits that there is more than one factor involved regarding the protection of our people, yet he wants to focus on the President’s failure to capture Osama Bin Laden. Bin Laden does not act alone in his conquest to kill us, “the infidels”, and the non-Muslims. It would be impossible for Bin Laden to defeat us or anyone else alone. Hitler did not act alone. It took six years of battles to defeat the supporters of the Third Reich and Hitler. Kerry would preposterously assume our military leaders do not know what they are doing, “I think he made a huge mistake in relying on local Afghan forces to capture Osama bin Laden, rather than committing sufficient U.S. forces on the ground to do the job.” “We relied on the warlords to capture Osama bin Laden when he was cornered in the mountains.” The Taliban and Osama Bin Laden inhibited even the warlords. They represented the different cultures within Afghanistan, the ones most familiar with Osama Bin Laden’s reign of terror, just as the Jews and upright citizens were to Germany. The warlords were our allies in our battle against Osama Bin Laden in Afghanistan. We relied on our allies in World War II to help us defeat Hitler. Who actually caught Hitler did not matter, catching him was a priority. The Russians were the ones that caught Hitler, and this took six years. “Moments later Senator Kerry clarified, for the audience and the president, just who had attacked the United States. "Saddam Hussein didn't attack us," said Mr. Kerry. "Osama bin Laden attacked us. Al Qaeda attacked us." “I would have concentrated our power and resources on defeating global terrorism and capturing or killing Osama bin Laden. I would have tightened the noose and continued to pressure and isolate Saddam Hussein – who was weak and getting weaker -- so that he would pose no threat to the region or America.” What would have happened if John Kerry had been President during World War II? He would have postulated that Japan was the threat and allowed Hitler to continue his plans of killing all Jews and reforming Europe into the “great superior race”. Not only would the United States have been defeated, but also the entire world would have been exterminated of all Jews. Bin Laden’s actions of attacking the United States on all fronts are similar to the Japanese attack of Pearl Harbor. Fortunately, we had a President of the time with foresight to see that it required not only an attack on Japan, but also one on Hitler. Terrorists will continue to attack us despite the capture of Bin Laden. Kerry would have led us all to believe that Hitler was weak and getting weaker as he wants us to believe the same about Saddam. Saddam was sitting in wait for the UN resolutions to be lifted so he could pursue his ambitions of creating weapons of mass destruction. The Duefler report also reports this of concern, however the mass media chooses only to present to the American people a biased, incomplete summary. In World War II, all our resources and power were concentrated on capturing and killing Hitler and stopping the persecution of Jews. It took 6 years. We have been fighting the war on terrorism for just three years now. Progress has been made. The United Nations has become debunked for what it really represents, not what it was meant to represent. We have freed Afhgani’s and helped them on the road to democracy. To assume that the warlords were “bad” was erroneous as the Democratic process is working in Afghanistan. We have stopped the Hitler like antics of Saddam Hussein in the slaughtering of his own people. Our nation’s people should remember the anger, pain, and utter shock of September 11, 2001. It took less than two hours to kill over 3000 people. Yes, America has the power to go in, fight swiftly, and destroy Iraq as the Trade Center was destroyed, but because we are seen as a civilized nation, and don’t deliberately kill the innocent it is taking us longer to accomplish our goals. We have become a society that expects immediate gratification and looks upon a process that takes longer than what we expect as failure. We no longer hold the value that patience is a virtue and those that hold it are rewarded. We are a society that warbles if we do not get the immediate gratification. We will believe Kerry’s unrealistic distortions if we presume it to mean immediate gratification. We do not remember past the heat of the moment, and we most certainly are not committed to anything for a very long period of time. We are a spoiled lot. ------------ Email Lillian Hesler: beaniebroad@go.com Tell a friend about this site! ------------ |
