Oct. 29, 2004 Unfortantely I have to suffer 5th period english with the dreaded Ms. P. You see she's a new teacher here in my good ole' schooland she drones on and on. From that most of my free writes come from. Free writes are sort of responses to something you hear or experience, say reading a poem aloud or listening to a song. This is where most of my poetry comes from during the school year. One fine example is the poem up there, it's based on a quote from Socrates. That quote was our essay topis for a regents task. And yes it seems different from my other pieces, because those I had written during summer where i had had hours at a tiem to let my mind empty to that white fuzzy space. No I am not a druggy I like to have my mind clear and have random thought come to me. Also these poems are a lot shorter. I have no idea why. Socrates “No evil can happen to a good man, Either in life or in death.” Socrates once had said, Unfortunately he isn’t alive today To see the people killed Like JFK, like Martin Luther King To see the veterans of war on the street Begging when they saved this nation To suffer the loss of life Because of murderers and terrorists To have your hopes extinguished Because of rape and torture To go through such pain Through abortions and hate crimes To be driven mad because of hate Just because you are black, white, asian;different To fall into the abyss To become your own evil To become your own hate To become tainted. ~Enigma alias Rachelle Ann Ramos ------------ About the author Rachelle Ann Ramos: I'm attempting to be an author, at any age writing a book is an amazing feat. But I bet it's harder when your just a highschool freshmen. I have always dreamed about being an author of an inspiring book in which teenagers can relate to.
