Celebrities Encouraging Voting Age Youths To Vote

By Judy Ramsook
Oct. 29, 2004

With a few days before the presidential elections, I have noticed that a few of the young celebrities in the nation have been encouraging their peers and even the undecided to cast their much needed votes. People like 'Drew Barrymore,' 'Andre 3000' from 'Outkast' 'P Diddy' and even 'Eminem' have come forward to emphasise how the importance of each person's input may impact the outcome.

I have seen a clip of the 'Eminem' video, in which he is strongly conveying why people should vote for Senator Kerry and believe it or not, most young fans of the rap artist do pay attention to his lyrics, so if most of his fans who are old enough to vote were to sit up and give this video that will air this weekend, some notice, then he just might influence them, his voting age fans, to take a closer look at both candidates.

In an age in which most of today's youths are heavily affected by some celebrities in the way these famous musicians and actors dress and so on, I can easily understand how the youths among us might be swayed to try to see things their way, then we might indeed have an interesting election outcome.

For change starts with the young, for they are the ones who have to have to live here after their kin who came before them have all departed from this world, and if they, the youths see that change is what their nation is in need of, then they will do their part. Just like their ancestors did before them, when they fought for America's freedom in past wars, and even cast their own votes to make themselves heard, so will the young ones because they also have a right to be heard, and what more important way to air their voice, but by going to the polls on election day. Even if they are influenced by such artists like 'Eminem.'
