Oct. 28, 2004 Perfection, in not so many words can be described as the state of being without a flaw. Granted, we all probably want to achieve perfection in our daily endeavors. Can we all agree that no one is perfect? If we can and we do, who then concludes that our work is perfect? Who concludes that our choice(s) is (are) perfect? Evidently, only a perfect person should be able to determine perfection in any shape, means or form. How can a person who is not flawless determine a flawless work? Or even another flawless person? Obviously, somewhere along the quest for perfection, we have lost the very essence of perfection: ourselves. Think about it; how did you know that a tall man is perfect, but not a short man? Its the general view of people, isnt it? Who are these people? How many of them have you met? More than likely, you dont know them, and neither have you heard of them. Most importantly, are these people perfect? Of course, without thinking, you know the answer. No, they are not perfect. Never have and never will be. How did you know that a rich man is perfect, but not a poor man? Its the way we have been trained to think. Its what we know. We are what we have learnt. Today, we live in the world where perfection is what the whole world views as perfection. But how do you know the whole world really views this idol as perfection? Certainly, you dont know the whole world, do you? Who then are these people that make you feel like there is such a thing as perfection? What does it really mean to be without a flaw? What is a flaw? How do you know its a flaw? Decades ago, being extremely skinny was seen as a flaw, but today, it is seen as perfection. What has changed? Ill tell you what has changed; we have moved from vanity to more vanity, and with the way things are looking, we are on our way to even more vanity. Perfection, just like beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. Perfection should be described as the state of being exquisite in the eye of the beholder. It doesnt mean that flaws do not exist. It means that the flaws only add up to make perfection. Perfect is what I say is perfect. Perfect is what you say is perfect. Perfection is a personal race. No two people are the same. At some point, there would exist a difference. It is at this point that perfection takes a toll. This is the point where we express our sense of individuality. Perfection. A sweet sounding word, yet with so many unspoken meanings and untold stories. Did I tell you about the time I found the perfect man? Perfect in my own world. Perfect because he soothes my personal needs, not that of the world. Now, that is what I call perfection. You still want to know about that perfect man I met? Ill tell you next time. For now, digest this little bit of information, for knowledge as they say, is power. You are not old until you stop learning, so learn about perfection. Feed your brain. Stimulate your mind. Amuse your soul. You dont have to go with the world; you can close your eyes and open your mouth. Walk on your head and eat with your nose; its your personal sense of perfection. Perfect your perfection, and when you are done, sit back and watch this perfection become even more perfect. ------------ Email Vera Ezimora: verastic@yahoo.com Tell a friend about this site! ------------ |
