Oct. 25, 2004 Okay, folks, sometimes I get mail saying that my fiction is too graphic or my story is too sad, too religious, or too silly. I even get a few emails from non-fans saying that my crime stories encourage aberrant behavior. I label my stuff for adults and for kids. I’m actually a conscience-driven person and have never wished ill of anyone. Not only that, I’m educated and I read. I am not in a sterile tube somewhere. I actually live and work on this planet with other people of every type. I have, however, this morning howling with laughter. I’ve gotten email calling me stupid and a moron. I don’t care; that’s subjective opinion. I do object though to death wishes and death threats. I think that’s out of line. I’m not afraid but it makes me wonder about the freedom of speech. I read many of the articles posted at Useless Knowledge because I’m interested in other opinions and different points of view. Who knows? Maybe it will change the way I think. I sometimes strongly disagree with the people who write articles. I don’t send them emails hoping they’ll die or wishing they would die. I certainly do not send emails with threats. To silence me is I guess the whole objective. When a few people want to make others keep their voice silent it’s oppression. It has been a nasty and rude campaign for both candidates. IIF I could see the future, you would pay me to hear it. Nevertheless, I cannot. I only can write about my personal opinions as clearly and interestingly as possible. I am not paid to write here. I do it for free. As far as I know this site has not helped me sell any books which by the way are all fiction. Other articles I’ve written here deal with other aspects of life not just politics. Before any of you readers get all distraught out there, read some of my OTHER articles. Don’t threaten me. It’s un-American. Thank you to those who sent words of appreciation for my work. I’m not easily discouraged but sometimes it’s nice to hear, “well-written” even if you don’t agree with me. ------------ About the RD Larson: new book out, Mama Tried to Raise a Lady, already up for an EPPI, anthology of short stories available at ebooksonthe.net in print and download.
