Oct. 21, 2004 I got very interesting comments from one in another country, on the articles I wrote about terrorism and my THANKS to The Courageously Brave Men and Women all over the free world, sacrificing their lives for me. I told them to write their views for us all to read, but I guess they are too shy to tell all what they told me. I have asked for their permission to quote them and was given that permission. It was really quite interesting as I don't really think about how other lands of the free world may really view America and that they really do or care what is going on over here, except when the explosive tragedies hit our land. I hear of things going on over in other parts of the world, but I don't really "acknowledge" it as something that is going to affect me directly in anyway whatsoever. I concern myself mainly on the happenings right here within the borders of our country. When I got these comments it was a real "awakening" to me and thought that others may be interested on what the free world thinks. in addition to the article on here. as a personal view on our country, from the land of endless horizons. On my article about terrorism this was their comment. "I'm surprised that your point of view is not more widely held. Many friends from outside America feel very sad when they look at the way your present ruling system is damaging the country." "I come from a small country of a population of about 20 million, so when I get on the web I am used to being largely in touch with the biggest concentration of English speakers - the US and of course, the US President is the leader of the free world (even though we don't get to vote for him), and we are naturally very interested in the upcoming election." And On my letter of Thanks this was their comment. "I'd like to support your thanks. I think it is terribly important that when a country sends it's soldiers overseas to fight and die, they stand 100% behind them, no matter what you think of the decision to actually declare war. What happened to the men who were fighting in the later years in Vietnam was Inexcusable - ordered to fight by their Government, but rejected by people and that same government, when they returned. No wonder so many of them feel bitter. The government has a right to ask the Army to lay down their lives, but in return they have an over-arching responsibility to make sure that the soldiers are used in ways that are honest and that every sacrifice is justified. I don't think the government meets those tests for the current comflict, and they should be planning to dis-engage as quickly and safely as possible. meaning months rather than years. Staying on just makes matters worse. Mobilise the Arab neighbors to lend a hand with security - they will probably be more readily accepted on the ground, and it is their own interests to have a peaceful neighbor." "When something isn't working - and the American occupation patently isn't - you either fix it, or junk it. Remember the damage caused to America by staying too long in Vietnam. Remember the final nail in the USSR coffin was the failure of their occupation of Afghanistan." "Let's Pray to God that the Government figures out a way to dis-engage from Iraq soon." He lives in our hearts and helps me, through my writings. Although I think that I am writing for others, quite often it is written for me, to help me and get me through the times of my life. Not all are saddened times and some things are really quite fun. The majority of my writings have messages in them of an awareness that needs to be seen and practiced more often in today's times by more of today's people of this modern society.
