Oct. 21, 2004 If Blacks are being taken advantage of it’s by Blacks, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpten and even the NAACP. Blacks are being held back by a mind set of “ Poor Me” and “White Men Owes Me”. That debt has been paid long ago if there ever was one. Blacks marched in the early 60’s to the drumbeat of Reverend Martin Luther King. Dr. King instilled pride and a determination in blacks to succeed to believe they were somebody. That dream died with Dr. King. Without a charismatic leader the King movement was taken over by profiteers. Dr. Abernathy had none of the qualities of Dr. King. The organization divided into subcultures losing all the creditability it once possessed. It no longer represented Dr. Kings dream of equality and respect between the races. The new agenda was how to profit from past-perceived humiliations. Its time for Black Americans to face their own failures and correct them. Stop listening to the new Slave Masters of the NAACP and so-called national black leader who are the ones holding African Americans back, work hard and prosper. I recently did a paper on 138 prominent Blacks of the 19th century who moved up from slavery to prominence. Tell me it can’t be done today. President Kennedy was assassinated in the fall of 1963. Dr. Martin Luther King was assassinated in the spring of 1968. With the assassinations of two of Americas most beloved leaders most of White America knew it was time to end the madness. After Dr. King’s death integration in the south went fairly smoothly. [Minus the immediate demonstrations.] When President Johnson took office replacing President Kennedy he was able to get most of the legislation passed pertaining to civil rights that had been held up in Congress for a quarter century. Dr. King was beginning to see his dream come true. April 4, 1968 Memphis Tennessee, early evening 7:30 or 8 pm as I recall, [The shot that killed a Saint and healed America.] How did Dr. Kings plan go so far a-drift? Along with civil rights came the Great Society. Liberal Americas answer to reparations for past grievances. Mothers and children were moved into public housing husbands and fathers were moved out. Family structure went out the door to be replaced with free rent, food stamps, and free medical care, subsistence payments were based on the number of illegitimist children a woman could produce. After a generation words like husband and father were replaced with words like “My Man and My Baby Daddy”. The family authoritarians became Grandmothers and Aunties. The neighborhoods were taken over by Rappers, drug dealers pimps and ho’s,. How is it possible to raise families with dignity in this environment? It isn’t, who’s to blame liberalism. There’s no such thing as mandated Affirmative Pride. To blame White America isn’t fair. Blame Liberal Politicians for promising prosperity and delivering poverty. The time has come to regenerate Dr. Kings dream of a unified America. To stop following empty rhetoric blindly. Make sure your children get an education. Practice discipline. Take back your neighborhoods. Bring the fathers and husbands back in the house. Rid the community of the pimps and ho’s. Look at yourselves. Stop blaming everyone else for your failures. “Get some pride Dog”. Most Black Americans have moved to the suburbs and into mainstream life. They’re undistinguishable from there white neighbors. Character stands out more visibly than color. If my new next-door neighbor is black the first time he barrows my weed-wackier and we talk for five minutes he becomes just my neighbor. We fear those things we don’t understand. White’s don’t understand Ghetto culture. No one is asking for the blacks in the hood to change. All that’s being asked if they expect acceptance in the white neighborhoods then they must change. It isn’t the responsibility for White America to do all the bending. Black Americans have survived to long on pity and handouts. If blacks want equality then they must practice equality. Your absolutely right Roy Adams Blacks are “Their Own Worst Enemy” not because they’re being picked on rather because they’ve bought the liberal line of selling their votes for an unobtainable dream, “Government Mandates Respect”. Respect is the badge of honor to be earned; you want it you earn it. It’s time Blacks stopped selling their vote for empty promises and start using that vote to fulfill the promise of Dr, Martin Luther King dream. “When All Gods Children Are Equal”.
