Oct. 16, 2004 First of all, as the lie keeps returning, it seems necessary to repeat the truth…every few days or so. Members of the Democrat Party are the ONLY ones who have proposed bringing back the military draft; with H.R. 163. The individuals proposing a new draft are Sen. Fritz Hollings (D) and Rep. Charles Rangel (D). Rep. Rangel, in 2002, even called for ‘mandatory military service’! Although the Dems’ 527s (spec. MoveOn.org) continue to spread the false email rumor that President Bush is planning to reinstitute the draft, the democrats are the ones “guilty as charged”. President Bush’s volunteer military has worked extremely well and the president plans to keep it that way. However, the Dem fear-tactic rumors are still kept in play. This is another prime example of the Democrats trying to affect something unpopular and then blaming it on Republicans. Once again, The Dem leaders are counting on their followers not checking the story out or believing the truth. However, I do not believe that all college students and their parents are the mindless John Kerry Kool-Aid drinkers that the Democrat leaders and their 527s believe they are. So, I encourage them to check it out for themselves. The draft, however, actually DOES have a good chance of being reinstated; but only if John Kerry is elected. Kerry said that he plans to add ‘20,000 combat soldiers and 20,000 support troops to the U.S. Army and to double the number of Special Forces as part of building a 21st- century military’. For those numbers of new soldiers to be implemented, it is John Kerry who will reinstitute the draft…NOT President Bush. In addition, there are very strong indicators suggesting that if Kerry is elected president, current military personnel will not reenlist. Members of the US Military, who daily risk their lives for the survival of liberty and our country, see the folly and indecisiveness that a Kerry presidency would inflict upon the United States. They want no part of it or him. So for any democrats who are single-issue voters, regarding a new draft, consider your options. With President Bush, military service will remain voluntary.
