John Kerry As Jesus? [Commanding The Lame To Walk]

By David Allen Jared
Oct. 14, 2004

Guess what? We may have found the answer to all of our problems. John Kerry as much as promised that, if we elect HIM next month, the paralized will be cured--sort of like a high-tech Jesus Christ commanding the lame to walk. He implied that, had we been smart enough to elect him in 2000, (presumably by some arcane or hitherto unknown "draft" system) Christopher Reeve would not have died and would be walking today, because HE (John Kerry) would have fully- funded unrestricted stem-cell research from government coffers which he seems to think would guarantee that a technology in its infancy, would long ago have found the cures to any number of injuries and diseases--including Reeve. Never mind that no competent scientist thinks that we're even CLOSE to any breakthrough "cures" as a result of stem-cell research (or would be any closer given the investment of half the national GDP, for that matter.)

The left has GOT to someday come to the realization that government money (that's OUR money, by the way) is SELDOM the solution to anything, and, more often than not, simply exacerbates the problem. President Bush has NOT refused to fund stem-cell research. We have, in fact, invested about 25 million dollars of taxpayers' money in such research--something that the government has little real business doing, by the way. All that President Bush has done is state that no government-funded research can be performed using stem-cells derived from aborted fetuses. Nothing in the law prevents such abortion-derived stem-cells from being used in PRIVATELY funded research. Don't you think that if there was any real, eventual benefit to be derived from such research, that private companies would be clamoring to finance it? It would be a HUGE financial boon akin to the invention of Viagra for whoever succeeds in finding a cure for Parkinsons, Cystic Fibrosis, cancer or catastrophic spinal injuries.

I realize that such speech from the Kerry campaign is merely campaign rhetoric, but it's basically a blatant lie and should be given the attention it truly merits...which is to say, NONE.
