What Is Not In My Wallet [A Capital One Credit Card]

By Judy T. Lloyd
Oct. 11, 2004

I may be getting a Dell but something I won't be getting is a Capital One credit card. Why because they are not what they say they are. No I was not turned down, I am turning them down. My husband obtained a credit card through them and they sent a card for a small amount which was okay. There was in writing a line that said after three months if you paid the mimimal balance and was on time your credit would be extended. That was falsehood number one we paid a lot of money in fact three times the amount asked. We paid the annual fee and getting through to them is another hassle. But that is another point. When he asked about the extension of credit they lied and said they had not said that. A foreigner who after hours of waiting to talk to someone practically called him a liar and I have a a copy of what they had written. False advertising would you not say?

Now after a year of paying and a decision should we renew after they lied we sent in payment by BidPay which is through the bank and it went out on the first. In our state it is a law that all electronic transaction within the state is credited that day. The payment was not due until the 12th. Today we get a late payment fee that they assessed and admitted they got the payment on the 4th. When I call I got attitude but I gave them a little burnt toast. Well it is your bank's fault and I said how is that and they said that the bank had to apologize to them for not sending it. You admitted you got it on the statement and it shows on my account so and so check you got it darling. To which she said I was lying practically and called the bank's statement erroneous. Why send a late payment notice and today's date is October 8th which is four days before the 12th. Does anyone follow what is happening here. Liar, liar, pants on fire. So I said how would you like to have your card mailed back and no thank you I don't want extended credit or a card in my name. I said I tell you what I have come up with my next useless-knowledge column and I am calling the credit bureau to report you and the Better Business bureau so folks Capital One Credit Card will never be in my wallet. How about the rest of you have you had this same problem. Right now my shorts are in a bunch, my toast is burnt, there are fleas in my flea collar and the cheerios are gone plus some others.
