John Kerry Thinks He WON That Debate?

By David Allen Jared
Oct. 10, 2004

At yet another of his interminable campaign events, Senator John Kerry, the left's candidate in the upcoming Presidential elections, said, "Two wins and one to go!" apparently assuming that he "WON" the Presidential debate last Friday. One is left to wonder just how far out of touch with reality the Democrats' campaign really is. It wasn't any "win" to MY clear recollection, although much of the mainstream press seemed to give John Kerry the edge and used the DNC's talking points when commenting on the results of the debate.

First, let's examine his myriad "plans" for America. If he's able to push through all the "reforms" to which he referred, it'll cost taxpayers $2.2 TRILLION in new taxes. He says he'll "pay for" these new programs by eliminating the Bush tax reductions on everyone earning over $200,000. Most economists agree that eliminating those tax breaks would net the government, at BEST, $650 Billion. Where do you suppose he proposes to get the REST of the $2.2 trillion? He said, unequivocably, that he would NOT raise taxes on anyone earning LESS than the magic $200,000 figure. So where do you think his other $1.55 trillion will come from? You've GOT it! He CAN'T fund his proposals without raising taxes on you and me. You just KNOW that he'd come back with the old Clintonesque, "I've worked harder than I ever have in my life and I just CAN'T give you that 'middle-class tax cut' I promised you when you elected me in 1992!"

We're being asked to believe that this man, and his running mate, neither of whom have EVER sponsored or co-sponsored a single, significant piece of legislation, now have come up with dozens of "plans" to "save" us--apparently from ourselves--and that any of these "plans" will actually WORK. Somehow, I doubt it. Where were all these "plans" while Kerry was serving 20 years in the U.S. Senate? If they are so "logical" and "workable" why hasn't he EVER proposed them in a bill of his own? As the debate made crystal clear, John Kerry has sold his soul to anyone or any position that he believes will help him get elected...period. He tried to keep the debate focused on Iraq, and the "mistakes" he claims have been made there, and on the old, tired, Democrat-mantra of "Tax Cuts For the Rich."

Apparently, he and the DNC believe that anyone not on the dole or living in "poverty" in this country is "rich." Well, I'M not "rich" and I don't really know anyone who IS. The average American works nearly half of each year, simply to pay his/her taxes to the various and sundry taxing agencies under whose thumb we all must live. In the main, we pay an average of 40% of our annual incomes for the privilege of living in the United States. By almost ANYONE'S estimations, that's about twice as much as we SHOULD be paying. John F. Kerry, on the other hand, thinks we're UNDER-taxed apparently, because he proposes to raise taxes (yet again) on us all. His debate rhetoric notwithstanding, his proposals MUST be financed with tax increases on everyone who earns any income at all that doesn't originate with welfare.

If you are willing to believe that a man with a proven track-record of exaggeration, socialist sympathies and outright lies can be trusted to manage a capitalistic economy as large as ours, then Kerry is probably your guy. The debates showed clearly that he is mostly an empty suit without any real appreciation for what the common man in the United States must endure at the hands of an intrusive, greedy bureaucracy on a day-to-day basis. If you want to see us economically go the way of the old USSR, then cast your vote next month for the Kerry/Edwards ticket. Somehow, I think most Americans are smarter than that--despite the efforts of the American public education system to dumb us all down.
