Oct. 9, 2004 Does going out in public, these days, feel good? I just got off of work. By now, I have been on my feet for over nine hours. Non stop more or less. Maybe, twenty minutes break. Then, I made up my mind to go to one of the local gas stations. To use the phone. I made up my mind to go into the store. In Marysville in Fredericton. Right beside the Tim Hortens. And, I walked around the chip Isle. Then, I was not sure at that point what I wanted. So, I thought I may go out into the car. And think about it. As, I just was not thinkiing. At the time as I just got finished working. So, I went to walk out the door. For the first time in my forty years. The cashier ask's me to come over. So, I did. He was not of this country I could tell. I was not sure as I walked towards him what it is he would want. He told me instantly to leave the store. And, never come back. Like, some bad scene in a movie. As, I am an actress to. Funny ,maybe, later, but not right now. Right now I feel like this man needs to be taught. How to run a business, and show a smile. Not a get out of my store. And, don't you ever come back. This is no past time 1800's bar scene. We are suppose to be living in a day of growth. And, freedom to beable to go into a store. And, not get hit on by the clerk. Isn't me that suppose to do that? And, then maybe get kicked out. I felt like he didn't like the way I look. But, I was born, and raised from here. And him, he comes from other country called Pakastain. By the way, it is him right now in the wrong country. Some new for me after forty years. Let alone, does he know he just taught me something new. I am not to old. I guess to learn new things. So, it's nice to know we never stop learning. Will I ever go back into his under customer service store again? No, But, the main office should be contacted. So, they know what sort of service their company is getting. Cause, this man has to run the business under the main offices rules. If, the main office says. we want red, and white. That's what all the stores get. Like, Petro Canada, or Mcdonalds. For instance. I just use the gas station, and fast food chain. As, an example. All them must use the same logo. And, sad to say this man don't own it. He just owns the right to run one of their stores. He lost me as a lyal customer this day. Along, with my daughnters, friends, and grandchild out int the car. And, made us all very mad. I keep wondering if he is stressed out. But, no. Stress don't do that. Pilss possibly. I would need to do more research on that. Maybe, lack of cocaine? Any how, it was all in all a bad day. Because of this gas station attendant. And, my mind is ,now, wondering whatg makes customer service so friendly. I worked for hte union at Safeway grocery store. I hd totake a specail customer service course. For two months before starting work. I know I can't kick someone out of a store. That wouold be like you going into the grocery store. And, you walk over to the chips. Nope, nothing I see I might like right now. So, you walk out. How many times in this life time. Is someone going to do that. None? But ,me yes. So, does going out in public, these days, feel good? No its sort of scary. But, it's nice to know. You just have to pass these creeps by. And, do it with a smile. ------------ About the author Marlene Thornton: Born in Fredericton New Brunswick Canada.
