Diogenes Or Noble Misanthropy

By Marjana Zisovska

In the Diogenes famous case, we can notice three parts of it: Diogenes himself, the tub and the lantern. On symbolic way, the tub presents a defense wall (barricade between personality and the world) and the lantern presents the Diogenes ratio. With reason that he lived into a tub and over the day he "searched for a human", follow the explanation.

Diogenes comprehended the barbarity in his time so he endeavored to save himself by the disorederd, sore spirit as a phenomenon in that time with purpose to protect the own divine spiritual transcedence and usage of lantern means that he perceived the external world under total RATIO control. For him, the notion "search a human" is a retrospective about how much people are educated inspired, which path goes the civilization renaissance. This situation does not give a moment to label him as a misanthrope and person who renounced the DESIRE, in general.

The act of searching is a confirmation that inside him smoldered a wish (hope) that the human sought up a way to open up the own, personal gate for spirit filtration, to change into a civilized favorable creature. This process expressed Diogenes ambition for realization of his vision about collective spiritual sanitation, function of the ratio, which takes a man for creation of great deeds- personal and community progression.

Nowadays, we have same situation wrapped up in different form. Factors for human seclusion are lack of self-confidence, apathy, melancholy, and depression, so in regarding of this we cannot say that it is a misanthropic. The man supresses the desires but it does not reject them. Some dominated motive aids it (being) to break up the wall between itself and the environment than it will open up the space to reach in front of the ratio gate.

Diogenes symbolically means eternal fight of the man to participate and to stay as a part in the system for transformation, personal and existential and he is symbol for spiritual movement. The cynicism proclaimed through its famous act, allocated for the humans with miserable, primitive spirit and rudimentary ratio elements, who ruled in that time. This appearance is reflection in the present time if we take into account the ancient general principles for existence of the living things.
