Join Me To Praise The Lord [I Turn 21]

By Olamide Ayeni
Oct. 6, 2004

I'm the happiest person on earth and somebody should ask me why. Yeah, I will be 21 years of age on friday, 08 October. Life has been so good to me and my family. It has been fanstatic.

Growing up has been very hectic, cool, lovable and full of challenges. I grew up in a family full of love and care but I lost my mum at a very tender age precisely at age six. Life was so rough without my mum beside me. I always envy those kids that still have their mum intact.

My dad was the greatest man in the whole wide world. He was just too nice, strict and quiet. He tried so much to make us feel fulfilled and accomplished. He had to pay for two housemaids for us until he got married after seven years. He never failed in his capacity to give us the best education money could buy and it really paid off.

I started school early even though I was always sucking my finger when I was to be in the classroom. I was promoted but withdraw from school in my first year and as a punishment my dad told me I will stay for two years at home. I started nursery one at the age of six after finishing serving my punishment. I was too brilliant for the class and I was given double promotion twice so I left elementary school early because I only spent four years in a class of six years.

Secondary school which is equivalent to college was too hectic for me because it was a boarding school. I started collecting prizes from my first year in school and I was made the library prefect of my school in my final year. I was loved and hated by some teachers but I kept my integrity all the while.

What I was noted for by my students and teachers was that I never traded my integrity for anything. Some students saw me as a thorn in their wheels because I will never condone nonsense. Yeah, so many of my friends started going out with guys early but, I was not cut out for that.

I gained admission to the university at age 17 even though to me it was quite late. I was always reading ten hours a day because I wanted to study medicine but my medicine never materialised so I settled for computer engineering. Even though I never liked computers for anything.

As it was recorded in the Bible, a man's gift will make way for him and make him stands before men. It was kinda funny if I tell you God was partial to me. He gave me so many talents. I can write, act, just name the proffession and I'm there except stealing, fighting and those immorals act. I argue so much that my dad thought I was a kinda different lady and I'm an activist. Just name it.

I met my one and only guy in the university and it has been three good years of going out with him. He spurred me to continue my writting skills and he always chastise me anytime I'm lazy to write. He has really been a darling all the while.

Just in a nutshell, God has been good to me throughout my almost celebrated 21 years on earth. The only query he needs to answer was why he took my mother at a very tender age when she was barely 40 years. What a beautiful woman to die young. It pains me every single day because of her death.

Join me to praise the lord every soul on earth, as I await my 21st years on earth. It has been a very fun-filled life not forgeting the fact that I was born in a country that has problems.

Join me to praise the Lord.
