Oct. 4, 2004 Walk that line, or take one or the other. Sitting on the fence gets nothing accomplished. Decisions have to be made in life. Indecisiveness is not a luxury, but a limbo of not taking a stand for something. Politics and religion runs our society's whether we want to believe it or not. Someone is always trying to change another's belief system or labeling them as unpatriotic if they don't agree with another's belief of patriotism. However, putting down your own people and not facing facts is not only reckless, but it is also walking a tight rope with a blind fold. This article is not about making you take my belief system on. But to wake each one that reads it, up, to looking at things on both sides and making a determined conclusion, whether you believe in what I do, or not. Do your own research. Don't depend on what one group or individual says about whatever political or other type of situation is going on. In the famous words of a radio announcer, "Wake Up America!" Educate yourselves and quit being disconnected to what is going on around you, in your state, country and, or around the world. Living in your own little worlds, is not going to make you any safer then knowing what the heck is going on. If September 11, 2001 has taught me any thing, its that being uninformed only freaks me out worse then knowing all I can know. Not that knowing America was going to be attacked, would have been any easier loosing the lives that was lost that day. I feel the same way I did the day that it all happened. More so, because I have made a point of keeping current with what the heck is going on then I did before it all happened. Which is, that we have a problem, and if we get folks in office that cater to talks that are of no use, we might as well stick our heads between our legs and kiss our butts goodbye. America has always been the lone ranger of the world. Why should we start being the nation that waits till other nations agree with all that we do, to protect our country? I don't care what political party you are affiliated with. You are still an American and therefore what you should have utmost in your minds is defending us, the USA. Stop fighting each other. What the heck happened to everyone banning together and kicking butt after what happened that day? It amazes me how people's memories fade in such short periods of time. To me, its as though it all just happened yesterday and I am still wanting all to be done that can be done. If that means fighting every terrorist tyrant ruler that supports and harbors a safe haven to terrorist from now till the end of time, so as to protect my country and the world at large. That's what I want to happen. Backing off because some feel we are wild cowboys running by the seat of our own pants, is not going to make the terrorist or others who'd like to kill us all off, that are not like them, quit trying to do it and succeeding in doing it. After all isn't that the very thing as to how the west was won? Have we as a nation changed so much from where we began this country, that we now are to modernized to carry on the ideas and traditions, that made us a country to begin with? How come it is that we can all come together when something happens like September 11 and within a few months and beyond, we are fighting each other, to who's to blame. Instead of sticking together working on solutions and fighting as needed to defend what our freedoms are, that started a country as the USA to begin with? Even wild animals are more consistent and organized in working as a team then we humans are. Although we are above the wild kingdom if we really care to be, after all we are suppose to be at the top of the thinking train, when it comes to a species. ------------ About the author Bonnie Florea: I am a poet, author, freelance writer and columnist.
