Do John Kerry Supporters Listen To What He Actually Says?

By Sher Zieve
Oct. 3, 2004

After the first presidential candidates’ debate, I fully expected our liberal mainstream media to praise John Kerry no matter how well he did. I was not disappointed. After a day of rest, a fresh manicure and his recently applied tan, candidate Kerry was ready to go and proved to be the winner in both style and oratory. On the other hand, President Bush had just finished a day of meetings with Florida hurricane victims. Even though the essence of the president’s presentation was clearly more substantive, President Bush’s manner was not even close to being as slick as Mr. Kerry’s. In fact, the only headline absent from the major MSM sources was “Kerry cleans Bush’s clock!” Maybe I just missed that one. I know that, despite the fact that the president was tired, there was no excuse for President Bush not attacking more of the irrational points John Kerry made and not delivering zingy and quotable one-liners. In order to receive even grudging respect from the liberal mainstream media, Republicans are required to affect a performance that exceeds 200% of expectations. But, I offer no excuses. That’s just the way it is. Reflecting the evidence of that requirement is a new Newsweek poll, reported yesterday. This poll shows Kerry ahead by two percentage points. Style over substance appears to have mattered more to those polled. But, did Kerry’s supporters really listen to what their candidate said?

Apart from the comment Kerry made, regarding his belief that any military action the USA takes should be subject to the scrutiny and approval of other nations (vis-à-vis a ‘global test’), I have yet to hear anyone in the major media (including Fox News) bring up two of Kerry’s more alarming, if not close to terrifying, statements. Did Kerry’s supporters hear them? Kerry’s first comment pertained to his plan to ‘rid the US of any and all of its major weaponry against terrorists’. Kerry’s exact words were: “Right now the President is spending hundreds of millions of dollars to research bunker-busting nuclear weapons” and “I'm going to shut that program down and we're going to make it clear to the world we're serious about containing nuclear proliferation.” Kerry wants to remove both our defensive and offensive weapons’ capabilities and bring back (as he stated) “the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty”. Note: Mr. Kerry, the Islamo- fascist terrorists (who revel in beheading people) will not agree to your plan and will continue to seek and develop their own nuclear weapons. These barbarians view you and your proposals as weak and showing [your] capitulation to them. Instead, they will increase their attacks against us. Your proposals will do nothing but, leave the United States naked and powerless and our troops unarmed in the face of the enemy! Yet, Kerry, in reference to one of the major terrorist nations, went on to say: “Iran is moving towards nuclear weapons and the world is more dangerous.” But, shortly, thereafter, Mr. Kerry said: I think the United States should have offered the opportunity to provide the nuclear fuel, test them, [and] see whether or not they were actually looking for it for peaceful purposes.” Kerry actually recommends giving one of our self-declared enemies the capability of waging nuclear war against us; just to ‘see if they will do it’! Mr, Kerry, this is most certainly not the time to conduct some dubious psychological test on a nation that protects and promotes those who have vowed to destroy us. This is madness.

As with sport competitions, Kerry’s supporters want ‘their guy’ to win. MoveOn.org and the other Dem 527s are providing the pep rallies. However, the reality of this situation is that it is NOT a baseball, football or soccer competition. This “competition” is between those who want continue civilization and those who are determined to destroy it. The terrorists and rogue nations that support them don’t care if citizens of the USA (or for that matter any country) embrace ideologies of left or the right. They will kill us all… indiscriminately. Stylistic kudos aside, John Kerry has explicitly stated that he will (by design) weaken the USA.

Whatever side of the fence you’re on, without a strong and free USA you won’t be able to voice any of your dissenting opinions. With Mr. Kerry’s plans, the rest of the world will make decisions for you. Without a sovereign US, your opinions and beliefs will no longer be allowed. Without a country, there will be no more US citizens. Without the USA, the world will be thrown into chaos leading to the dissolution of other countries. Like it or not, the USA has brought more liberty and freedom to the planet than any other group or country. This is our responsibility and our legacy. At the end of the first debate, President Bush said it best: I see the valley below and it's a valley of peace. By being steadfast and resolute and strong, by keeping our word, by supporting our troops, we can achieve the peace we all want.”

Even if President Bush has not been your candidate, somewhere sanity has to prevail for all of us to survive. This is not just another presidential election.
