Oct. 2, 2004 I have lived in Massachusetts since 1966. I have never seen a Boston Globe headline about any important Senate speech, vote, sponsorship of a bill or any nationally recognized stand taken by John Kerry, except the reports on two votes. One when Kerry voted in the minority against ousting Saddam from Kuwait and another when he voted against the funding for the military in Iraq, again in the minority. I can not recall anything of importance that John Kerry did in the Senate for the interest of the people of Massachusetts. Other than in some neighboring New England States, the rest of the country didn’t know that Kerry even existed. On the other hand, our senior Senator Ted Kennedy is recognized throughout the world. He has his family name recognition, his legacy of Chappaquiddick and his alcohol consumption. During the debate on Thursday night, John Kerry said “I've worked with those leaders the president talks about, I've worked with them for 20 years, for longer than this president.” Again I can not recall one instance when the Boston Globe reported of any meeting between Kerry and a world leader, not here in the USA nor abroad except when Kerry met twice in Paris unofficially as a US Navy officer with leaders of North Vietnam to discuss the surrender conditions of the United States and later with Manuel Ortega the communist leader of Nicaragua. Kerry did in fact go to Russia after the fall of the USSR when he visited the KGB Headquarters in Lubyanka (not Treblinka) Square but he did not meet with the Russian President. Since I heard Kerry utter those words I have been picking my brain apart to recall any other instance when and where Kerry met with other world leaders. John Kerry has never been part of any official US government delegation or was ever sent abroad or requested by any President to represent the United States. His visit to Nicaragua was on his own to show his support for the communist leader. It seems that Kerry’s 20 years experience in dealing with foreign leaders has only been with communists to further their causes. I am sure that many people will say that Bush had no foreign experience and that would be true but then again Bush never said or boasted that he had. If anyone would want to do a Lexus-Nexus search on Kerry’s international experience that he so proudly boasts about and if in fact I have missed any instance, I will gladly retract my words and correct the record. ------------ About the author Al Young: I am a disgusted former registered democrat. The last straw was the performances by Carville, Lanny Davis and Chris Matthews. I no longer can stand the rabid extreme left wing socialist media who will try to hide what is obvious just to elect Kerry. Email: abxxy@aol.com Tell a friend about this site! ------------ |
