Arabs Celebrate George W. Bush's Victory!

By Brooks A. Mick
Nov. 4, 2004

Some of us thought that the Arabs would celebrate if Kerry won. But it seems that some Arabs are celebrating George W. Bush's victory! Of course, these are the victims of oppressive regimes who are celebrating because Bush's victory gives them hope that their liberation may be imminent. (Don't you now love that word, "imminent?" Not an "imminent threat," but an "imminent liberation!")

"On the streets and in the gathering places of Iran, millions celebrated the re-election of President Bush with congratulations and discreet V for victory signs to each other.

The Student Movement Coordination Committe for Democracy in Iran (SMCCDI) Website reports that not just a few, but millions of Iranians hoping for reform in that country are excited about President Bush and his promises of democracy for the whole region.

However, SMCCDI reports, "As Iranians and especially the younger generations have become happy, those affiliated to the Islamic regime are seen deeply worried about their future."" --Newmax.com

I much prefer these people, yearning for freedom, to be celebrating Bush's victory quietly than to have the terrorists dancing in the street.

But now where does President George W. Bush lead? The internet is rampant with sites giving him free advice, and some sites simultaneously giving advice while advising that it isn't the time to give advice!

So I shall advance my political advice, oft- stated on the old, defunct Abuzz site run by the NY Times: "Do the right thing!" (OK, I stole it from Spike Lee.)

I noticed long ago that Bush, except for minor digressions, tended to do the correct thing for the good of the country, and that when he did, his opponents, the Bush-haters, the left-wing wackos like Michael Moore and Barbra And Alec, and the Democratic leadership which has been hijacked by the wackos always reflexively opposed him, thereby knee-jerkingly taking the wrong side! So to destroy his political opposition, all he had to do was "do the right thing!"

Now that some in the Democratic leadership are wuaking a bit in their boots, having finally noticed that Daschle's seat is empty, Bush should re-appoint the same judges, should push for permanent tax cuts, push for tax code reform, push for privatization of Social Security (done incrementally, of course), and push for a sane energy policy, and push decreased government regulation.

The opposition will oppose, putting themselves on the wrong side of history and the wrong side of logic. The economy will grow, terrorism will be defeated, more people will see their Social Security accounts becoming more and more valuable, and more and more people will, through self-interest, opt for privatization of more of their accounts. Government's iron hand will be lifted from our shoulders.

OK, it's a bit utopian. But not by much!
